Easily in my top five of favorite movies. I’m 53, so my sample size is getting up there.

Don't forget Captain Fletchers quote: "Don't piss down my back and tell me it's raining."
It's almost as well known as the actor, John Vernon's Dean Wormer quote in Animal House,
"Fat, Drunk, and Stupid is no way to go through life, son."

I had friends in Dallas who named their son Payden after Kevin Kline's character in Silverado.

It was also rare in that it told the Civil War honestly from the southern perspective. It gave the reasons for why so many men who fought for the South did so weren't doing it for political reasons but for them it was personal.

That line was actually lifted straight from the book the movie was based on. For people who don’t know Asa Carter wrote the books that Josey Wales is based on including the Vengeance Trail of Josey Wales. The Education of Little Tree was also a good book written by Carter. Carter also wrote speeches for George Wallace. He was the author of the phrase "segregation now, segregation tomorrow, and segregation forever" in Wallace’s inauguration address. If you have not read his books you should definitely check them out.

Subtle humor puts Josey at top of list.
Lone Watie: How 'bout the one on the right?
Josie Wales: Never paid him no mind; you were there.
Lone Watie: I could have missed.

I always enjoy the Chief. Poor guy can’t get it right or catch a break:
OJW doesn’t listen to his horned toad prediction.
The squaw almost stabbed him
Rolls down the gravel hill and gets busted
Etc

I don't know about that, Lone Watie ended up in the sack with the squaw.
"Sne thinks I'm some kind of a Cherokee Chief"
"I wonder whatever gave her that idea", lol.
