Quite possibly my favorite Eastwood Western.

Between this and the GB&U!

Dyin’ ain’t much of a living, boy.

Yeah, well, I always heard there were three kinds of suns in Kansas, sunshine, sunflowers, and sons-of-bitches.

Hang ‘Em High is my favorite. It was the first Western I ever watched and I was hooked immediately. The actors in it, the revenge story, the piece of shite judge, that movie is incredible.

That said, I don’t think it’s the best Eastwood movie, and Outlaw is right near the top.

Probably the best written, best directed, best acted and, therefore, the greatest Western (anti-Western) film of all time. Tombstone is up there, as is The Searchers, The Shootist, Butch and Sundance - but Josey Wales just has no weak spots - as a film - hits every note just right. As gritty looking and violent as The Wild Bunch (although Clint is never as enthusiastic and lusty with his violence as Peckinpah), as noble as any John Wayne movie.

No question in my mind TOJW is the greatest western film, period.

Reminds me of rainy Sunday afternoons sitting with my Papaw watching that movie. Every time it comes on I stop and watch.

You damn fools! Ten Bears gonna want him a fresh woman. Fresh, that little gal will bring ten, maybe twelve horses. Now, if one of you has to, you can take that old woman over there. She might be worth one donkey.

I typically hate 70s westerns,, there's just a weird feel and vibe to them.... But sons of a bitch Josey Wales so good. Wales is actually a far better character than Man with No name...beside unforgiven, it's Eastwood's best perofmances by a mile.
