With Oscar season upon us it’s about that time

10. John Wick 3
9. Knives Out
8. The King
7. Ford vs Ferrari
6. Parasite
5. Joker
4. Richard Jewell
3. The Irishman

Just missed the cut: Once Upon a Time in Hollywood, Rocketman, Us

Still need to see The Lighthouse, Pain and Glory, The Two Popes, and Marriage Story

Biggest guilty pleasures: The Beach Bum and Serenity (guess I just like MM)

Biggest disappointment: Uncut Gems

Huge box office bomb.

No nominations for any awards of note.

It's trash fiction. "Inspired" by true events. It was made for and by trial lawyers. It makes Erin Brockovich look like a well-reasoned documentary.

Yeah I know I’m going to get crushed for that one because of Ruffalo’s political stances, but the acting was top notch and I really enjoyed it so whatevs

any one else a little underwhelmed by the movies this year? in my view, not as strong a crop as in years past. top movies are probably Parasite, Once Upon a Time, Irishman, and maybe 1917. but just feels like those pale in comparison to some of the heavy hitters in recent years.

also, The King has been overlooked. Dafoe and Pattinson in The Lighthouse were spectacular. and not a movie, but the Apollo 11 documentary was remarkable.

A down year but way better than last year. I couldn’t even make a full top 10 last year. This year was very back heavy, almost all of my top 10 came out the last 3 months of the year. The first half was terrible. And totally agree on The King. I loved it, Timothy Chalamet has a bright future

would tend to agree about last year too. Green Book winning BP was preposterous.

and yeah, not to turn this into a Chalamet thread, but he's great. Beautiful Boy and Hot Summer Nights were underrated too.

Turns out that I didnt see many good movies in 2019. Quite a few that I still need to see.

Off the top of my head...

1. Once Upon a Time in Hollywood
2. Peanut Butter Falcon
3. Joker
4. Toy Story 4 (haters gonna hate)
5. Knives Out
6. Endgame
7. Tolkien
8. Ad Astra

There were 3-4 that I genuinely didnt like. Not going to list them because the downvotes will pile up
