i've only seen 11 (watched it last night) and it really does show the qualify of police that rawls, landsman, and bunk are
the human touch they allow rawls to show is a really big scene, imho. he's basically satan on this show and this shows a real human side
this episode just in general is really good for the human element of the police in the series

Yep. Basically told McNulty he is a meddling POS, which he is, but also told him he isnt responsible for Greggs.
Rawls and Landsman are good Po-lice

I couldn't disagree with this more, but really can't get to specific as to why without spoilers
Rawls is a political animal, he is one of the primary characters that imo proves the Iron Law of Bureaucracy all he cares about is his stats, we see this with him wanting to push for murder indictments even though it will a) totally blow the detail and b) aren't very strong cases so he can get clearances.

See above on my view of Rawls and Landsman, though i think his interactions with Jimmy at the hospital show his human side and also that he is a good manager that does have concern for his subordinates .
Now, Bunk, like i said earlier, I really loved in later seasons but the first time thru season 1 didn't remember how involved he was. He is good police that does walk the line very well. He'll bend the rules and cover for people at times, but doesn't do anything to really piss off the bosses. like Jimmy and Lester do, even though he knows a lot of it is BS. He works his cases and tries to make a difference that way.

Daniels was difficult to like, initially. When he sides with his guys after the incident at the towers - you start to warm up to him. Then, after you warm up to him and the FBI guy tells Jimmy on the side, "He's dirty."
But, this was about the point in the show where I decided he was really okay and one of the "good" guys.

Great episodes.
The Hunt.
Hilarious that ole boy doesn't even know who Daniels is. And it speaks to the bureaucratic bullshite that goes on in cities like this.
So stupid that Freamon has to get these assholes in check and on the phones. Same with the stakeout later on...dudes are up in the van being loud and not paying attention while Shardene is undercover with a fricking wire on. Freamon doing poh-leese work all over the place.
That recording of the Kima incident is rough, and watching them listen to it is rough too. Damn.
Rawls showing glimpses of compassion, even if in his own a-hole-ish way. But good on him for trying to help McNulty deal with it.
THE WEEBAY GIF!
"She was a cop..."
Love that gif.
Carver telling Kima's girl was pretty rough too. Can't believe it had been that long and nobody had even thought to tell her yet.
Avon schooling Stringer on the money. I love the B&B partnership...they both keep each other in check and both advise the other.
I love pissed off Jimmy as much as I love drunk Jimmy. And good for him for jumping Levy's slimy arse. But one thing's for sure, Levy is smooth as frick and always in control. I can't help but love every time that wormy frick is on the screen.
Dee scared as hell, and Bey just wants him to feed his fish while he's in prison. I forgot about that.
Look at ole Bubbz trying to get/stay clean...I love Bubbz's arc on the show more than most.
Cleaning Up.
Bodie movin' on up.
Freamon going full pimp on Shardene. I don't remember him pimping at her this hard in my first watch, but dude is all over that shite. "She can stay at my place......protect and serve.." Yeah I bet she can, bruh.
I get Dee wanting to make a stand for Wallace, but that is the wrong time to do that. You've already done it to a degree before, first of all. And secondly, shite is going down and you know B&B want to talk to him. So say your peace and move on. Don't take such a stand that you jeopardize yourself. It's just not smart.
Then Bodie steps up and tells Wallace that he ain't on the money anymore and has to start back on lookout, which is the right move, and of course fricking Dee wants him back on the money.
"Who's that, your new girl or something?"
"Nah, nigga, that's my mom."
Clay Davis schooling Daniels on the political bullshite and how to get caught up in the rigmarole, and Daniels ain't having that shite. Sheeeeeeiiiiiiiiit.
"He ain't built for this shite. Heart pump koolaid." Bodie is Wallace's boy, but he knows what's up. And he knows that he has to handle his business and move on. Love how much Bodie is beasting this early.
Sasd shite for Wallace, man. Bodie and Poot struggling with it too. But they know what has to be done. And Poot is finally the one who pushes past that line and makes it happen. Bodie yelling at Wallace to stand up straight and act like a man was pretty intense. And Poot taking the gun and finishing off Wallace is a pretty huge deal IMO. It's Bodie and Poot being ready to move on/up and leave the weaker people (Wallace) behind.
And we see Wallace's mom, and it all makes sense as to why this good kid is mixed up with all the street bullshite and is now dead. So tragic.
Avon putting his sister in her fricking place...and Dee bout to start wondering "where Wallace at."
"You'd rather live in shite than let the world see you work a shovel." Daniels BOOM. That's an awesome fricking quote right there, and it's 100% true. "We cash the checks, count the votes, and move on.." I think one thing that makes S3 so great is we get to see the corruptness of the politics.
Why are Avon and Stringer just sitting there? I guess because they know what's coming and know that it's nothing Avon can't handle (and that Stringer is clear), so they're just being men about it. And he told his sister that everbody has to do their part, so this is him doing his I guess.
Sydnor: "This is the best work I ever did." It's sad seeing the squad breaking up. This has to be one of the best first seasons of any show ever.
Also, has anybody else seen Levy in that shitty (insurance?) commercial that he does? It cracks me up since it's literally the only other thing I've ever seen him in.

Well, they probably don't know that Stringer is clear at that point. I mean, what are they going to do? Run for it? Duke it out with a tactical team?
They're just handling it like professionals.
Also, from Cleaning Up - another great quote from
Freamon:
quote:
Freamon: Ain't none of y'all ever been in the military? How do you learn a thirty-inch quick time?
[Nobody speaks]
Freamon: Draft dodging peace freaks, huh?

Agreed. I loved the switch between Jimmy and Daniels. Earlier in the season is was Jimmy doing whatever he could to get/keep the wire/case going, and even getting on Daniels's arse about not doing enough or putting up a fight. And then after Kima gets shot, Daniels asks McNulty about the case he says "frick this case," and it's Daniels that basically has to kick Jimmy's arse and get him in gear to get back to work on the case. That was a cool little juxtaposition.
And we see how completely distraught everyone is about Kima. It shows us that it's not just work, and it's not just about "police being shot." But they were close to her and they all were pained by that incident. Especially McNulty.
And poor Bubbz, man. He was devastated.

They should have left the strip club as soon as Orlando went to jail. that way the would have never got caught with the wire
on a side not where would you hide your drug money. I would bury it
Wee bey- Ice cold killer, has names for his fish who would clown him if they knew
the two actors and actress playing d and his mom actually looks like they might be related
I blame prezbo for not saving Wallace
Michael B Jordan's characters sure have bad luck. they wouldn't let him play baseball because he was too old. they shot him the back at subway station. his best friends take him out in a series and a movie
