It is someone nobody cares about. That's why they didn't show it. To build fake tension; concern for various fan favorites. That's how this show works. My money is on Aaron.

I could definitely see it being Aaron
Have a strange intuition it's Maggie...she cut her hair to look unattractive (numbing us), already had her abduction scene pre/cut.
They won't want to deal with another baby arc. Maggie is deader than dead IMO
PERFECT time to step up Rosita

it just sucks because you know when filming gets started its going to get leaked.

thought a great ending would be for Negan to make Rick choose who dies. Obviously, Rick would probably offer himself up for the chopping block, but Negan says something like, "That's not how this works. If you don't give me a name in X seconds, I'll kill your son." Then play out the rest of the scene how they see fit
And no matter who Rick chose, it would lead to at least one person in the group hating him at the start of next season.
Would weaken their group and strengthen Negan's.
Another good ending would be for Rick to name someone, then roll credits. New season starts. Negan stands in front of that person then kills someone to either side. Then Negan offers the person a chance to join Negan's side.

IMO it's clearly someone that was in the van. If anyone wants to go back and watch, you can hear during one of the POV shots earlier in the episode the Savior telling Rick and Co to hand over their weapons and kneel. I believe they were trying to show a flashback of the last day on earth from someone's POV.

It's Glenn. Has to be. That fricker has escaped death too many damn times.

If I wrote the show and absolutely felt I needed a cliffhanger I would have done it differently.
I would have let it be known who Negan picked to "kill" but I wouldn't have shown anything but the first contact of Lucille to the person picked.
The audience would have been left with "is that person alive or dead" rather than wondering who died.
Now, just killing said person would have been the best option mind you. But, if a cliffhanging had to be done...
I would have had the POV with Negan in front, and then he brings the bat down.
It flashes to the person chosen with the bat lodged into their skull and the person's eyes bugged out.
Then back to Negan and the POV of the person. It fades to black and we hear the squishes over and over again with people screaming in the background.
The End

I thought this was one of the best seasons they have had.
Agree with you there, though the cliff hanger was bullshite

I don't think it's Glenn since they made a point of not killing him after he jumped out of line when Negan addressed Maggie.

It's either Rick or Aaron.
Well I'll make it easy for you and say there is a legit 0% chance it is Rick being that this is HIS story

can't wait for next season's premier to end on a cliff hanger followed by a 90 minute special on the backstory of Negan!!
Posted on 4/4/16 at 10:05 am to pvilleguru
Some people think it's Carl.

Has anyone mentioned this was a horrible fricking episode yet? Because it was.
Remember when Dale got his guts ripped out by a zombie and we clearly saw it and got an emotional moment with him then death?
Remember when Hershel got his head chopped off on camera and we clearly saw it and we got an emotional moment with him then death?
Remember when Andrea died and we got an emotional moment with her and then death?
The past two seasons, who has really died that anyone cared about on camera and without remorse? No one.
Now I'm not saying I want the death. I actually want this group to do something besides "Threat here, kill here". However, I am saying this entire season, and last season was cheap. They're not going to kill off main characters. Carol has three fricking bullet holes in her and just got finished wandering around the countryside for three days, but she'll be fine.
Aaron "magically" appears on this trip after being irrelevant for like 6 episodes. Gee I wonder why. They're killing him. Him, Rosita, Abraham or Sasha. We all know it. So why don't they fricking show it? You know the only reason I remember Dale from seasons 1 and 2? Because he was a character, not a fricking plot point. He had a personality, and when his guts get ripped open on camera you can feel that moment. A piece of you dies with him.
You know what you can't feel? A gimmicky escape under a dumpster by Glen after his death, and a 90 minute buildup where the entire show is reminding you "hey someone is going to die, get ready for it", then a fade to black. The moment is completely lost. There's no way to regain that moment they could have captured with a character's death. I now give zero fricks about whoever just got beaten to death. How are they going to make the emotional moment come back? Run the clip again at a different angle? TWD needs a instant replay kill cam so they can boost ratings for the season premiere in 6 months.
Seriously, if you're going to kill someone, do it right and let the audience feel something besides anger at your shitty writing.
This is a great post. I agree with you on Aaron. Maybe one of the others you mentioned. Certainly not a fan favorite. That is why they didn't show us. Kill off Michonne and people would be grief stricken and in mourning for months. No reason to conceal that. Kill off Aaron? BFD. Fans forget it in a day. So they just leave it completely open so we sit around and speculate for a while about the possibility of losing a central character.

they want you to think its Carl due to the negan line about the eye, typical TWD fake out. They mistake misdirection for good writing
Posted on 4/4/16 at 10:10 am to JBeam
Well "a tiger" landed on Darryl and that shadow is photoshopped so it's not Carl.
Also there is no chance in hell Rick sits there and lets Carl get beaten to death in front of him. He, Abraham, Darryl, and Michonne would all die before that happened.

To me, that line further proved it wasn't Carl.

did they hire Lindelof as a showrunner?

I'm just throwing out some peoples theories. Personally, I believe it's either Glenn or Abraham.
While I agree with you that Rick would have flipped his shite over Carl being killed in that manner. I don't think we were dealing with normal Rick last night. He seemed shell shocked.
On a different note, I'm curious what Negan was like before Z-Day happen.

I just thought they dragged it out forever. Lots of filler, leading up to a cliffhanger. Not to mention Rick and the group being so overly confident and making very questionable, rookie decisions all at the same time. Maybe that was a result of the false confidence.
Group is split up badly enough and continues to split more and more. Dumb.
Oh and Carol's dumbarse needs to come back down to Earth, not sure what the hell she has going on.
The last scene and introduction of Negan was pretty badarse and much needed. However, they even managed to botch this scene which would have saved the finale. All they had to do was avoid another typical cliffhanger and they couldn't. Just left me saying "wtf, that's it until October? Frick me right"
