What am I supposed to "get"? If you can't tell me without spoilers, then I have to assume you just know something that happens in the comic. That's not my gripe here. It's the pace of the show. I know the comic is an ongoing series, but that doesn't mean the show should be the same. Don't the comics get released regularly? If the episodes were on an even remotely similar schedule I wouldn't be so opposed, but this shite is going to drag on in its current format.
Look at the great shows like BB and The Wire. They had a finite number of seasons and had a plan for how it's going to end. TWD show is giving me the impression it wants to be like the comics with a continuing plot. I don't know about you, but I don't want to be watching this show in season 10 with the same BS going on. I need conclusion out of TV shows. I don't want this to be some gotdamn daytime soap opera. Season 1 was fricking awesome, but it's deteriorated ever since.
I've been pretty critical of this show as of late, but I feel it's warranted.
I like the pace of the show. They do a good job at depicting the overall atmosphere of the zombie apocalypse imo. I'd imagine if that shite was really going down things would be moving at a snails pace. They actually speed things up in the show.
As for the your comment on the seasons deteriorating. Obviously season 1 was the best and I agree that 2 & 3 were kind of meh. However, season 4 has been every bit as good as 1 and in some regards better. I don't want a bunch of plot twists and big explosions and stupid ways to cure the walkers. I want to see the desolate world their living in and how those people continue to adapt.

The only conclusion that I see is the group most all being killed off in the last episode (except maybe Carl & Judith for a sign of some future hope).

If you haven't liked this last season then you just need to quit watching, because this season has been up to par with season 1.

You're looking at it wrong. The episodes are running chronologically at the same time.
As in, Daryl and Beth set the fire at night and Carol and Tyrese see/smell it the next morning.
No, I completely get the chronology. I was making the post because someone was commenting about how the groups are right next to each other thus it was silly (in their view) that the groups didn't run into each other. I set up a timeline to show that when Carol and Tyrese actually notice the fire was hours and hours after Beth had already been kidnapped and Daryll had run off after the car she was in.
Tyrese, Carol and the girls stayed there at least 2 days after first noticing the smoke, thus they don't leave the house until at least 2-3 days after Beth & Daryll had left their place. This puts a tremendous amount of walking distance between those two groups, thus why they probably won't run into each other for a while.
I'm not sure how my post may have confused that point.

That this season is going to focus on character development of non-primary characters to make this much more of an ensemble show instead of "let's see how Rick handles this, and oh yeah there's other people too". The zombies are just a vehicle the writers use to explore what could happen to people on both the intra and inter personal levels should something so drastic happen. Lizzie was a great example of this as was her sister in that there is no longer room in the world for people like her sister and there's no place left in the struggling societies for fragile minds like Lizzie's. Stories like this take time to develop, they are like a good meal in that if you really want to enjoy it you have to take time to really savor each bit instead of just "wolfing". The enjoyment is in experiencing the moment, not the final destination.

agree and understand that not everyone views the show this way so some will be dissatisfied.
also there's the extreme, like the people who think GOT moves slow whenever all the main characters keep their heads in an episode.

This is how TWD has been since day 1 though. I don't get why people are upset now in season 4.

The first season moved MUCH faster because the actual character being developed was the world itself. Rick was just along for the ride.
By contrast, when they got to the farm everything crawled. The contrast between the two scenarios was enough to give viewers whiplash. That season ended in dramatic fashion though with the herd of zombies causing mayhem. The pace then stayed a bit faster with the prison and the antics of the Governor.
While this season has been much more about character development, the zombies are thus far being used in a much more active manner to move stories along. That's why, I believe, it doesn't have the plodding feeling of the farm.
So while it's always been about character development and exploration, the characters and vehicles used for that have caused the tempo to change. I think they've hit the right speed this season so far though.

Food for thought: the train track walker that got stuck is the same walker that was making noise while Bob was trying to sleep (while Sasha was on watch). Bob couldn't sleep, sat up, and said "it sounds like it's sounds like it's stuck."
The smoke and burnt walkers came from the Daryl-Beth moonshine house they burnt down.
Just to show how close the groups were to each other during the time apart.

In the final episode it will be revealed that since Edith was born with the virus and after the outbreak her body was able to produce antibodies to fight it thus leading to humanities salvation.

This.
Been saying it (not here) since day 1--this show isn't about the zombies, it's about the people who happen to be in a zombie-infested world.
If you follow or watch the show with the same frame of mind as watching 28 Days Later or World War Z, you'll be dissatisfied.
I've enjoyed every season, but this has by far been my favorite. The pace/character development has been excellent, IMHO.
But hey, every show is going to have its haters/detractors for a variety of reasons. Can't please everybody.

So Edith dies without destroying her brain and doesn't reanimate. OK. Plausible.

lol, that's awesome.
i contend though that beth sees daryl romantically but daryl sees her more like a sister or just someone weaker that needs his protection.

First I love the show, but all you guys talking about how close they are, well dont you think if they were that close that each group would have heard the open fire on the burnt walkers?
Posted on 3/20/14 at 10:28 am to tdog
That stands to reason. It makes a lot more sense for those that are aearching for others: glens group and Maggie's group.
With the woods both blocking visibility and possibly skewing sound who knows if u walk in the direction of it that the people would even be there by the time u got there?
But as an aside, would u run towards or away from distant gunfire at this point?
Edit: btw, we miss you on the show tdog. Actually bob's an alcoholic with a cloudy past. So he's more interesting. Not to mention tyreese. So nevermind I guess we're good.

I just want to say Maggie is the worst character on the show. She annoys me to no end.

Bumping for tonight. We finally get a move in surroundings with the introduction of Terminus. Should be interesting.
