I just got through watching Monday's and Tuesday's shows.
Tony: fricking killed it! I was on the same wavelength as Blake when he said Tony had some sort of Robert Palmer thing going on. I was thinking the same thing during the performance. This was a great rendition for Tony and he really worked the crowd well with his energy. You could easily see his years of stage experience.
Katrina: Katrina did a great job, but she sounded too much like Lauryn Hill for me to feel it was a stand-out performance (especially when compared to Tony's performance).
Jermaine: Good job on a tough song, Steve Perry is a TOUGH act to follow. The only problem I had with this performance is that, while very good, it was missing some special something to knock it out of the park.
Erin: This just wasn't a good song for her. She has a great voice, but there was nothing about this that made me want to listen. It was the only song I fast-forwarded through.
Blake was dead-on yet again when he said Xtina did a really smart thing by bringing her two performers back into their comfort zones for this round. While I think Chris has more potential, they are both currently niche singers and that's going to be tough to sell to the large more-mainstream crowd voting from home.
Chris: Last week when I watched Chris I thought "he would probably kick a ton of arse with something like 'Ave Maria'". I was really happy when I found out he was singing it and he did a stellar job. That was the perfect song for him right now. Another good choice may be "Danny Boy". Whatever he does next week is going to have to be really something to top this week's performance.
Lindsey: She has a good voice and was definitely in her wheelhouse with this song, but I just don't think it had the mesmerizing effect that "Ave Maria" had. Plus I hate that half-shaved one-side-of-her-head thing =P
Xtina really screwed herself by not keeping Jesse or Anthony and REALLY screwed herself by pitting them against each other early on.
Cee-lo has the team to beat. Period. The producers know it and that's why his two were at the end of the show.
Jamar: Jamar, for me, was like a better version of Jermaine but just like Jermaine's performance I kept feeling like there was some sort of spark missing. Cee-lo saw it as well.
Juliet: I wish I could have been at James Brown's graveside during that performance to hear his spirit shouting "YES! YES! YES!". She didn't just kill that song, she CPR'd that bitch, rehab'd it, then killed it again! This competition is hers to lose next week.
Footnotes: So many great performances on Monday night, I am seriously thinking about flagging that episode on my TiVO to never delete. I *RARELY* buy music, but tonight I bought Chris, Tony & Juliet's performances from Monday's show. They were that damned good, imo.
Tuesday night's show was bitter-sweet. It was nice to see Dia again, but her song wasn't good. As a matter of fact, none of last year's performers had good songs. Beverly's was probably the best but it was anally raped by Cyndi Lauper's caterwauling and what seemed to be Cyndi randomly changing the stage act and trying to force things that were far too elaborate (and that Beverly had no clue about beforehand).
So Cee-Lo sang with his protege from last year... How did he become such a star again? And for such a short, fat guy to wear pants that were so tapered... he looked like a fricking oompa-loompa.
And finally... I'm glad someone else noticed the Christina/Tony thing. Maybe she's trying hard not to show favoritism to her old Mouseketeer buddy, but if that's the case she's waaaaaaay over-doing it. He's had badass performances the past two weeks and how has she reacted? Last week her biggest praise was to joke about a Mickey Mouse Club reunion. Even for the brief moment she did speak of his performance positively I kept feeling like she had a "but..." waiting there. This week I had the same feeling, then she goes so far as to FLAT OUT TELL ADAM he should be voting for Katrina over Tony.
Seriously... wtf? Did Tony not let her swallow or something?
Can't wait to see what happens next week.

Watched both episodes and the thing I am most shocked at was America's big vote for Juliette. I thought she was better but was scared the HIV story would give Jamar the edge. Glad it didn't work out that way.

The VOICE sucks, but it's still on my DVR since last year. I have probably enjoyed one performance thoroughly in 2 years and it was from Juliette, Monday. With that being said, the 6 place finisher on American Idol this year, Elise- could outsing all of the singers remaining.

That wasn't Beverly's song...they were singing an old Cyndi Lauper song.

I had to fast forward after 30 seconds of Cyndi Lauper sounding like she was being tortured. Couldnt stand it.

Which makes it even more of a travesty. Seriously, was Helen Keller in charge of the rehearsals?

There's got to be more to it than that. Like she put the moves on him backstage or something and he rejected her fat arse. People don't just turn on someone like she has on Tony without some sort of reason (unless she's fricking coo-coo for Cocoa Puffs, I'm not ruling that out but it's at the bottom of my list).

I enjoy watching the voice but it is unbelievable how much less I care about it than I do the other.
