Christina seems to pick her favorite at the beginning of the season then tries to stack the deck for them. How many rock songs did the lesbo classic rocker get last year?
With her you can always tell 2 things: she's going to go for whoever does the most tonal gymnastics without screwing it up and whoever is the most versatile.
You could tell both Adam and Blake were severely underwhelmed by the performances last night.
One of the things I can't help but wonder about is the time frame. Okay, so they do the pairings and song picks in a day. No biggie, but it seems like they've all had their "celebrity coaching" on the same days. How much quality training time could they really have if they are doing 6 per day? Two hours... once? The more I look at this aspect, the more it seems like they rush the shite out of these people.
One thing I'll give Idol is the singers get to pick their songs, so at least they know them a little better. Going into a competition so soon with a song you've never heard before is moronic.

Just to clarify, the idol singers are given a theme that week. They are then allowed to choose from a list of songs. It definitely is better than the voice judges picking songs for you though. Especially songs that you haven't heard of.
I don't get in these music singing competitions making people sing songs completely out of their element and then judged on it. To me, I'd rather hear someone at their best in their genre than to sound mediocre and barely make it through round by round. I wish the singers could choose whatever they wanted each week and do what they do best.
Christina telling them that the "voice" to her means that you have to be able to sing different types of music and have to be ready to change it up at any time. That is bull shite. Most successful artists do what they do best and stay with the genre that works.

I really think the coaches choices for who was battling and what songs they would be doing have made these singers seem a lot worse than they are.
- Just kick the country kid off the show if you are going to give him "I'm Yours" by Jason Mraz. And then you basically admit that he "tied" the homeless chick and you still picked her even though that song was tailored for her to win.
- I thought the last battle was really good. Both of those guys did a great job with their own style in that song and made it work together (important). You could tell both of them had a lot of experience singing with others on stage.
- Easily the most disappointing person from last night based on the blind audition performance was the Indian chick. She is lucky she got paired with the tall hot blonde who had very limited range. But the Indian girl did not sound good at all.
- The James Massone grease monkey kid sounds like he belongs in a boy band. Not an insult, just the truth.
- Christina sucks as a coach. I'm sorry. She gave Moses that round based on him not sounding as bad as everyone thought he would. The Line sounded really good to me and had a right to be very pissed like they were. They picked the wrong coach when it comes down to it. I dont think they stood a chance at advancing with Christina as their coach.
- I actually liked Orlando's performance better than the shy country chick. I thought she missed the "EEEEEEEEEEEaaaaaaaaaassssy" high notes pretty badly.

I cant agree with this enough. I dont want to hear George Strait rap or have Lil Wayne try country. Stick to your guns and give your teammates songs that fit their strengths.

Yup, big time to both points above.
It's bullshite to know that someone has a "niche-y" and cool sound, and then turn around and give them a song that all but erases that element from their performance. It completely negates the reason you picked them in the first place (because they sound cool/different).
It's like when they offer the criticism of "you are great at what you do, but you are very narrow in that..." Well no shite. That's what makes people unique and special and why you turned your chair around in the first place.
And Christina is the only one who never, ever, seems sincere. I appreciated Cee-Lo, Adam, and Blake being honest last night and saying they were unimpressed or disappointed or underwhelmed. But Christina always feels like she's just saying some generic-type bullshite and it doesn't sound genuine.

Cee-lo has me cracking up tonight.
Blake's team was already very weak, they are about to get blown out.

He is definitely the most entertaining person out of the battle rounds, not the best singer by any means but he is a great performer.
