Everyone praised Rian Johnson left and right and he did this to the franchise

Yeah uh, I just saw it and I have no idea why people are melting so hard. Y’all are a bunch of babies.

Explain more, does the synopsis just not do the actual film justice? Or do you just not care about the parts they gloss over and getting rid of Luke that way?

I read the spoilers before I saw the movie - I read them days ago. And I can honestly tell you it's completely different to see it than to just read it.

Spoiler from Battlefront 2 DLC:

When Zay Meeko and Shriv reach the Resistance base, they are in the process of evacuating.

After Leia offers her condolences over Iden's death, Zay offers to help, but Leia gives her a different mission, telling her to find their allies in the Outer Rim.

Could we see Phoenix Squadron in Episode 9?

Yeah, the melting here is pretty dramatic. Killing off Snoke was a bit odd and definitely shocking, and Leia using the Force to survive in space got a few laughs from the cinema I was in. But for the most part it was a pretty good film. It wasn't Empire good, but it did have a similar theme of the good guys trying and failing and barely escaping.

As for Luke's character, you may not agree with the direction Rian Johnson took him, but it shouldn't be as big of a shock as some of you make it out to be. He made a mistake resulting in a dozen children dying, plus countless other innocents. Can you imagine the guilt you'd have if it were you? And then running away from it all instead of facing the problem, just brooding on it for years? Can you honestly say Luke was "out of character"? I like this version of Star Wars. Luke is not a hero. Heroes don't exist.

Edit to add: I admit I'm skeptical about Kylo Ren's reveal to Rey that her parents were nobodies. It won't ruin the movie for me if there's nothing more to it than that, but it also could be something addressed in Episode IX.

Agree with you here.

But Luke is my childhood. Wanted to see him kick arse one last time.

They should have just adapted the Zahn trilogy.
Could have had cline Luuke and clone Palpatine. Plus the bad arse Grand Admiral Thrawn.

Her parents WERE nobodies, her grandfather will be somebody.

He did, it was just in old Jedi Master style, not new Jedi Knight style.

See, if this is revealed in Episode IX, the "your parents were nobodies" line will be a moot point.

Just walked Out of the theater Unfreaking believable. I'm still Processing it all and will have to give it another viewing to give a proper review but I've never been so emotionally riveted and jolted out of my seat so many times. LUKE MF Skywalker

Agreed just left. I thought it was fantastic and whatever the spoilers said does not do the film Justice.

I'm thankful I didn't read any spoilers other than the trailers. Honestly if you read a description of what happens it would not sound like a good way to go with the movie but it was incredible to experience in the theater. The snoke throne scene was unexpected AF

Baffled at the hate his character is getting just for dying. His send off was the most Jedi send off anyone could ask for. With the two suns setting across the ocean... jfc people...

Maybe, but part of the kitsch of SW has been that everybody in the Galaxy has a connection to this one family. After TFA, one of the articles discussing who Rey's patents are/were raised the point that they don't have to be anyone. Not everyone in the Galaxy has to have crossed paths with a Skywalker.

That said, I could totally see a reveal in Episode IX, revealing that Ren lied to Rey and she's a Kenobi, etc.

But it's the movie tv board, crying and saying everything sucks is what they do best. Of course the spoilers leaked were worthless, there was 0 context behind them. They took those and ran and cried in their blankies. They can't come back from that now.

I can't imagine what the melt would have been like on this board when Vader tells Luke he's his father.

I'm telling you if I read something before seeing it that said. Luke Dies in the movie and he doesn't even get to kill snoke I would have been pissed.

But after seeing the movie and how they did it it was bad arse and served his character fittingly and moved the story forward from the past.

Mark Hamill and Adam driver were incredible.
