My 7:30 showing was completely full.

I bought my tickets as soon as they went on sale, and I still had to choose around seats that were already sold.

Now that I'm going back to read the reviews that I avoided (good decision since they all give the entire plot away). I'm amazed at how many of the negative reviews start with the reviewer's astonishment over Joker winning in Venice, a rundown of why the film is controversial, and a slap on the wrist of the director for mouthing off to the press.

Not sure if their bringing all of that baggage into the theater influenced their viewing, or if they're trying to pre-legitimize their negative review.

Imagine if Heath was still alive to reprise this role.

This is a different role and Phoenix was better than Ledger and i love his portrayal in TDK.

It was a different character in many respects. Comparing the two is unavoidable but not really fair. Both were fantastic.

I’m out of town for work and caught the 11 pm showing last night at a shitty theater across the street from my hotel. 7 people in it but I’m talking no stadium seating. I enjoyed it though. Depressing from start to finish but this was Phoenix’s best performance ever. The ending was a great payoff and lots of Easter eggs for purists.

I took that sign for the Ace in the Hole strip joint to be a play on both Ace Chemicals and Ace Rothstein.

Serious question: is Original Screenplay up for grabs in this? Or because there’s technically source material, it’s out?

Yeah most of these critics are up their own arse.. I probably saw the word Nihilistic 4 or 5 times for the negative reviews. Like Gotham is supposed to be a happy fun safe city pre-batman

Movie was great.

I haven’t looked into it but are they doing a Batman/ series? I want more. I would love to see a Batman origin story with a different villain that sets up the third and final between Batman and Joker.

I’ll be real honest, wife and I left not long after the subway murder.. just a very uncomfortable movie.

Another one.

I love when people to go a movie that has tons of violence warnings and yet, someone still gets offended and walks out.

Do these people think that the Joker was like the Caesar Romero version? That's the only way they can be legitimately upset at this characterization. He's the joker for Christ's sake

I actually thought it ultimately tied back in to Romero's - minus the camp, of course- all the way from the styling of the suit he wears on to Murray's show to the disturbing laugh.

Philips' explanation of the laugh as an involuntary, Tourette's-like response was a great touch.

Went and saw it with some coworkers during lunch.

It was great.

Heath Ledger is still my favorite version, but this was the most sympathetic take on the character I've ever seen.
I really like how he became more and more Ledger like toward the end.

From the scene with his mom, to the way he carries himself after getting away from the police, to the Murray show, to him in the mental hospital.

You see a lot of Ledger's vicious/confident type Joker starting to develop.

Hell of a character arc.

I can't believe the number of people who've posted that this is a good movie. It isn't.

Welp, there you have it folks. Despise the many positive reviews and positive posts on here, it is in fact not a good movie

The apartment scene was disturbing to me but not really because of the violence.

It revealed that beneath all the crazy, he still had a self-centered value system.

There was applause after my viewing last night. Not everyone, but there was applause.

It's not for everyone, but you shouldn't be shocked that it hit some people correctly.
