Saw this movie last week high as hell.

From the opening scene of Joker trying to control his laugh at his meeting with the social worker all the way to the end, I was mesmerized.

Amazing movie. But I am a big JP fanboy. Love him in everything he does. The dude is good.

The imagery, sound, and music was great.

For some reason, this image is one of the coolest images I have ever seen in a movie. Creepy as hell and disturbing. Represents him allowing Joker to begin taking him over. The movie is full of beautiful, cinematic shots.

Saw the movie with the wife (no pics) and loved it.

Anyone notice the clocks on the walls in different scenes all said 11:11?

Batman 89 had a much older than Joker and Batman fight.

BTAS had Joker older but closer in age to Bruce and Andrea.

Wasn't really a plot point in Adam West.

And he's usually spry enough to keep going in regular comics so probably around the same age if not a little older than Bruce.

Almost no subtlety at all,

I agree. That’s my main and really only complaint about the movie.

At the end when he’s laughing in the psyche ward and says “im thinking of a funny joke” and it cuts to Bruce. You think that’s when he decides he wants to kill Bruce Wayne? Or is it not until he becomes Batman?

The joke is he was adopted and his actions indirectly made Bruce Wayne an orphan.

Heath ledger is still the best joker for one reason. Phoenix’s joker isn’t smart enough to out smart Batman.

If we’re just talking comic book movies then it’s easily Top 2 all time next to Logan.

How are we supposed to know that? He was Arthur Fleck for like 90% of the movie. We saw him turn into the Joker, not actually be the Joker

Thank you. The character is at the very beginning of the Joker. Lots of time to work up the Joker maturation scale.

Some people in this thread are WAY over-rating this movie.

It's a good movie. But nothing more. Not a masterpiece. Not an Oscar winner [including for Best Actor]. Not the best comic book movie ever. Etc.

Mad that JP will win the award fair and square vs being gifted it due to oding?

Soo does anyone know if he actually killed the chick that he was imagining he was with in her apt ?? I’m 50/50 on this. They didn’t leave other kills up for question though

I thought the sirens and lights afterwards confirmed he killed her. My question was did he kill the little girl too? I'm thinking him not killing the LP kinda shows us he didn't kill the little girl maybe?

I like how they leave it up to interpretation... And what about her just calling the cops because he broke into her appt? Maybe shes fine and called for trespassing?

Although, you figure they would have been knocking on his door soon after as she would have quickly ID'd him.

did anyone else feel like watching Chicago Bulls highlights from the early to mid 90s when he was dancing down the stairs?

I’m gonna go against the grain on this. It’s a good movie and I liked it a lot.

Phoenix definitely deserves the Oscar. But he just didn’t feel like the Joker to me, even at the end when he’s in makeup and at the end when he’s back in Arkham. I think it’s a brilliant character study but not a character study of the Joker. That’s just me. I think Phoenix nailed Arthur Fleck and deserves an Oscar for that. But not one time did I think man, now he’s the Joker.

It’s a shame that I feel disappointed. I had high hopes but yeah, just didn’t feel like the Joker to me. I know it’s supposed to be his origin but he was never particularly funny or smart. Just a damaged, abused man with mental illness and he killed a few people. There’s more to the Joker than that.

Is there?
I would’ve welcomed some more dark humor.
