I don't get how you'd want to see this again unless you held out hope that things made more sense the second time.

It won't make more sense.

I saw it twice. Second time in IMAX. I felt better about the the movie after the second viewing. There's alot of good things going on in the movie, but Synder can't connect them with his crappy story telling. A second viewing helped me piece together that connective tissue.

The movie is as beautiful looking as it is poorly directed.

Music was awful
Plot contrived and choppy
No humor (my biggest gripe)

Although when Ben said "oh shite" I loled.

I'm just irrationally angry at the movie altogether because batman is my favorite character and they fricked up what should have been an amazing movie.

And amazing visually yes, but lacking basic storytelling fundamentals that cannot be overlooked.

I felt like between Perry and Aflred, nearly everything they said was in a joking manner.

ARE YOU DENSE? HE SAID THERE WAS NO HUMOR.

(But yeah, there was humor in there, but some folks wanted a witty come back during every fight, a la Marvel.)

I think that if Batman would've said, "Get the point?" as he was stabbing that guy, and "Wow, he went out with a bang" when that guy blew himself up with a grenade... would've made for a better movie.

Alfred provided just the right amount of 'light-heartedness' (I can't bring myself to say humor) in this movie.

I'll be honest, I was so deeply invested trying to connect the dots and figure out what would be next to unfold, I didn't have time to laugh or even remember that I paid to see a comedy.

I actually liked the movie for what it was. It was a bit annoying with the random cutscenes and overload of information (I don't even know if it was all relevant; not a comic book aficionado) and Batman turning into a muscle hamster, but besides that... I liked it.

It doesn't have to be a comedy to have humor.

Every good to great movie had humorous parts/characters. It breaks up the tone in a pleasant way. Almost every director ever will tell you that. It's basic shite.

Come on man. It had humor. More than a lot of actual great movies, that's for sure.

No, the comedy is in the constant need to misrepresent what most people are saying when they say the movie is "joyless" or "humorless," but please keep it up

I felt like it had enough humor and levity, considering the subject matter. There was some humor with Wayne and Alfred, and Wayne and Prince. Wonder Woman was light enough in the climatic fight.
Too much humor and silliness was one of my major gripes with Avengers AOU. It's fine with Ant-Man, but not for a more broad danger.

What do people want- Superman making wise-arse comments to the Congressional subcommitee? I don't think that would go over well.

Oh Alfred certainly had a couple of chuckles, yes. And I agree about AoU, but it wasn't way too much. The banter works for that film.

However, people think fun means either some wisecracks or comedy. That's not what people are referring to. It's one of those things that hard to quantify (wise cracks and straight comedy are convenient because they are easy to describe). It just doesn't feel like anyone is positive (happy, joyful would be incorrect words if taken at face value). But it's like no one is having fun, not in the world, and not in the creation of the end product. It's so ultra serious that it doesn't work imo. And I think that's intentional from Snyder (see the mythological comments, no jokes stuff, etc.)

(This is the same thing I saw with MoS, btw.)

Wit.

Wit can be used at literally any point of an action movie (esp fight scenes) to add an extra element that makes movie goers enjoy said scene exponentially more.

This movie is void of substantial wit, which is what made the first Avengers so good. Alfred does have wit but Jeremy Irons comes across more sarcastic than anything else (totally fine for me btw)

Agree. Humor and joy are different. BvS had enough humor, but the tone and story telling was lacking in joy whether intentional or not. I only felt joy with Superman during his have fun with Louis in the apt scene, WW fighting, and Batman after the fight with Superman.

Poor Superman never really had many moments of happiness. Civilians mostly hate him, government doesnt' trust him, Batman wanted to kill him, Lex still does, he exiles himself, gets exposed to Kryptonite, brought to near death by Batman, hit with a nuke, then he dies.

ETA: DAMN supes... that was rough. Hang in there.

Don't forget him being the lone living thing when the bomb goes off in the courtroom. I think that was the peak of said loneliness and despair
