Great story, great special effects and Tom Cruise has that Top Gun swagger. Maybe his best film.

I really wish someone on the internet would create the thousands of killer Tom Cruises scene for us to enjoy.

Although I disagree with your opinion that the film is all that great and a classic, the production value was extremely high and it had an incredible score and original song by M83. LINK
Joseph Kosinski is a hidden gem amongst newer filmmakers. I thought the Tron sequel was so well done and he is now branching off from sci-fi into character based dramas. He just made Only the Brave which was easily the best Film I saw all year.
He really should have been the tapped for the new Star Wars film instead of R. Johnson. Of the recent directors, he is now in the list of guys who's films I will see regardless of the plot....I would think that's about as high of a compliment as a filmmaker could receive.

I find myself watching it every time it's on.

It’s a highly enjoyable movie with a kick arse soundtrack. I’ve watched multiple times, but i wouldn’t say it’s a classic, and it’s certainly not cruise’s best movie. But it’s a hell of a lot of fun.

It may be a little underrated but I wouldn't call it a sci-fi classic.

I really enjoyed Oblivion, listen to the soundtrack all the time, and find myself watching it whenever it's on. But one thing I've never understood (though it's not a movie ruiner for me)...
At the end of the movie, we see in flashbacks that Cruise and Co-pilot Lady are in the cockpit making the audio recording as they approach the Tet. Their ship separates into 2 pieces. The cockpit goes into the Tet, never to be seen again, while the the fuselage is sent away to protect the people inside it. Yet when the fuselage crashes to Earth, they find the audio recording inside it? Doesn't make any sense.
