Gold VHS veteran here. Actually liked the prequels, as well as Rogue One. Sequels were unmitigated arse. Just found out I have Disney+ with espn.
Very conflicted on this one so far. McGregor is awesome, but holy shite every single villain is cringe beyond belief.
I’m going to emphasize EVERY because this isn’t about not being able to handle powerful black woman. They’re all just as bad as she is - the Asian and the white men included.
Leia was a little over the top but not egregious.
How tf would Obi1 not have known for 10yr that Vader was alive? He was the second in command of the empire.
Last shot was nice and haunting though. I hope they make the climactic meeting worth the Disney-fied villains and action sequences.

This has the potential to appeal to Star Wars fanboys, but for an average fan like myself, I don’t like it.
The tone is very serious, but the writing and secondary cast can’t put in the performances to match. Many times I laughed at the script.
Similar to the prequels, McGregor’s performance is the only redeeming factor so far.

Neeson, Portman, McDiarmid, Jackson, Lee, and yes even Christensen had their moments.
Hell Jar Jar wasn’t even THAT bad.

This board has apparently become beyond miserable
And i usually agree with the bitching on here but this thread is absurd

Think about it for a second
1. Obiwan has been disconnected from the force in order to not draw attention and also I’m
Sure help not get himself “sensed” so he wouldn’t have sensed annikan
2. The sith would have random people show up as trained lords fairly regularly that the Jedi didn’t know about such as Maul or Dooku so it wouldn’t be out of possibility that this new Darth Vader wasn’t just some secret apprentice Sidious had that they didn’t know about
Idk why those things are hard for people to understand especially when the Emperor has so much power and control and so few ppl had any chance of knowing it was actually annikan the whole time
My question is why does the emperor/Vader care if his true identity is secret or not? What does it matter? Hell, maybe his entire existence is sort of kept under wraps from the “general public” for whatever reason but seems like a good propaganda opportunity to be able to say “look how evil the Jedi were, this former Jedi has left their ranks bc of how bad they were and now he serves our galatic empire”. They could even say his injuries were inflicted by Jedi he tried to stop. It’a not like the emperor didn’t work with former Jedi as it was said some of the inquisitors themselves are former Jedi though maybe that’s not very public information

The only “gripe” I have is the menu screen. It looks like Vader and Obi-Wan squaring off on Tatooine. Why wouldn’t Vader relentlessly attack that planet? We will see I guess. The footing doesn’t look as sandy, so hopefully it’s somewhere else.

There is no need to complain about wokeness.
Its just awful. Woke or not. This was the last chance I was giving this franchise.
I was hoping they wouldn’t screw this one up.
I’ll reluctantly give it a couple more episodes to right the ship, but I’m not optimistic at all.

Watching a YouTube review and a good point was made: why wouldn’t Vader have already thought to use Leia as bait? Anakin would have been very aware of the relationship between Bail and the Jedi. In 10 years seems like something he would think of. I realize he isn’t aware leia is his daughter but you’d think he knows she exists as bails daughter.
I like the Haja character but kinda felt rushed. Con man to redeemed hero in 20 minutes?
Reva being able to mind read is why they keep her around I guess. Seemed like they could’ve just led with that during the opening scene but we had to get some exposition I guess. Just kinda lazy writing.
The chase scene was hilariously bad. The supporting cast and effects are subpar at best.
It’s short enough that I’ll finish. Just not blown away yet.

Say what? Did they not watch the original trilogy?

First two episodes look like a low budget WB show.
Posted on 5/28/22 at 8:03 am to BearCrocs
Only thing that looked low budget was that horrible chase scene.
Also I’ve already had enough of the snarky attitude of young Leia. Like we get it, I understand that’s the type of person Leia was in the original trilogies but my god I don’t know if I can take 4 more episodes of dealing with a character from Little Rascals.
The 3rd sister is so forced and unnecessary it hurts. We could’ve still got the plot across with just the main inquisitor going after Obi Wan.

So are we going to see the Grand Inquisitor come back to beat the Third Sister's arse at the end of this show? He's alive for the entirety of Rebels, and she fricked up the killing blow. They can Fennec him and just shove electronics in the hole to get him back on his feet.

Chase scene was terrible. Probably because it was filmed in that bubble.
The inquisitor sister sucks. She’s just doesn’t give off a real sith vibe. Yet. I was hoping for a Michonne type of presence.
I don’t like the baby sitting. Riding off mandos coat tails. I know they said it was originally too dark and can’t help but think this was to lighten it up.
I don’t know. I love obi wan. He’s my favorite SW character but these first two episodes just feel off. Hoping for a better rest of the show.

This was fricking horrible. Those chase scenes are one of the most embarrassing things I’ve ever seen

He saw a hologram of Palpatine making him his apprentice. Palps says Rise Lord Vader. Obi Wan knows.

I said it in jest but I'm starting to convince myself that the reason it is person for her is that she is Satine's daughter

I’m more excited to see the next EFAP and RLM episodes covering Obi-Wan than I am of the show itself

People will complain about the child actor, but her dialogue would be impossible for anyone to pull off.
No child talks like the script they gave her. The scene with her cousin was so dumb. Her lines in that scene belong in the mouth of an elderly soothsayer character.

Correct. Obi-Wan knew Anakin was Lord Vader, he just thought he killed him.
