Les Grossman is one of my favorite characters ever. The first time I watched the movie I had no idea it was Tom Cruise until the credits rolled. Blew my mind.

Below their usual standards imho.

A cheap mashup that any ninth grader could have done using an online editor and YouTube cuts from those movies.

If anyone could do it, it would’ve been done already.

honestly, a genius comedy. One of the best ever. And could never be made today. One of the last gasps of 'getting away' with whatever you want in the name of comedy.

Les Grossman : [beat]  Who is this guy?

Studio Executive Rob Slolom : Les, that's Four Leaf.

Four Leaf Tayback : Sergeant Four Leaf Tayback. I wrote the book.

Les Grossman : Wow. You're a great American. This nation owes you a huge debt. Now shut the f*** up and let me do my job!

Tropic Thunder has so many genius characters.

Now and then I get down on Tom Cruise for his dipshit roles and shitty performances, then I watch Tropic Thunder again and I'm reminded that he's able to hit the occasional walk-off grand slam.

It's likely his off-screen antics that keep him from being looked at in a better light.

People can disagree, but I actually think Cruise is underrated.

In his big starring roles, he may not be delivering Shakespearean acting, but he has a pretty good ratio of hits to misses. It's pretty rare a guy is a bankable blockbuster star in 4 decades, and a pretty good percentage of his blockbusters are good, fun movies even if they aren't deep.

Then he has smaller or more challenging roles. He's actually pulled those off pretty damn well. I think the personal weirdness overshadows how rare it is that someone pulls off the sort of career he's had, thus, he's underrated.
