Well on the scale of hot women on this show she ranks near the bottom, right around the crazy queen of Mercia "but even she has the freak thing going".

Yeah, how do we do this?

No idea but I really want to find out!
Hopefully I can figure it out before Katheryn Winnick has a nude scene. So far I think it's just been Aslaug, floki's wife and some randoms.

I enjoy those historical spoilers. Whether the show follows or not

I'm still trying to figure out stagnated plan. He mentions patience, but they are vulnerable to French and English enemies considering they just lost 75% of their warriors.

For the History of the main characters, I found it on Google. It's interesting. Love the show, but hated to see the Vikings loose. More than half must have been killed. Hated the French, and I'm a descendant of them, like a lot of us.

Well, they only lose some battles, but they pretty much run roughshod over Europe for more than 100 years as Vikings and the Normands' pretty much ruled it into modern day.

I mean they raped, pillaged and terrified the French into giving them most of the French coast just to try and keep them away from Paris.

This is a pretty good BBC documentary on the Normands.

Yup. I think he clearly wanted Floki to fail and knew it would happen. He basically sacrificed his whole army and isnt too torn up again it because that was the plan all along.

No clue how they can invade Paris now, but they writers make it seem as if it is inevitable.

That's because according to history, they do it.

I know, but you get what I mean. Unless they go back home and regroup I have no clue how it is feasible for them to invade right after that huge loss.

Like he said, historically Ragnar takes Paris and is then paid to GTFO of there at some point. Pretty sure he brought like a thousand ships with him too.

The show always fricks up the scale of these battles. They make the Viking camps look relatively small to save money on extras I guess. Then when it's time for any battle you see dozens and dozens killed.

In the preview for next week it shows the Vikings using stealth tactics to get in the city which would make more sense.

Why did Ragnar want Floki to fail? Also, do we think Ragnar makes it past this season?

The show would suck without Raegnar

I believe he lasts until this show ends. Floki believes the gods love him and he can do no wrong. Raegnar is past that point.

Ragnar is no longer 100% faithful to the Gods. He thinks that Floki's over-reliance and confidence in religion will get them all killed. Ragnar was still angry about Floki killing his best friend Athlestan.

Yea thats one of my few gripes. just because all I care about is being entertained. but it irks me that im always like "where in the hell did all these vikings come from"

their camps always look like 100 vikings max

All of this. And I think Ragnar wanted to prove how great of a king and leader he is. He let Floki lead so everyone could see it isnt as easy as it looks and Ragnar is that good.

Ragnar also has to make it past this season I would think. Doesnt he have to produce a few more sons, take Paris, become more well known by expanding his empire, and die like previous posters described? Thats a whole lot for the rest of this season.

Historical Spoilers:

quote:

Rollo Lothbrok is the first Duke of Normandy and great-great-great grandfather of William the conquer. His ancestors still sit on the throne of England. He becomes fascinated with France and sticks around driving the king mad until he gives him land which becomes Normandy "the land of Northman"

Looks like he wasnt even related to Ragnar but was too important a historical figure to elave him out of the show so they tied him through the main character:

quote:

Well, the chances are pretty good that he wasn't a "Lothbrook" to begin with! In fact, the chances are pretty high that, in The History Channel's saga, it was ROLLO, not Ragnar, that made the biggest impact on England.
Rollo (c. 846 - c. 931), who was baptized Robert and so is sometimes numbered Robert I to distinguish him from descendants, was a Norse nobleman of Norwegian or Danish descent.
