Yes, I agree that their issues are different. But they both have issues. Reeves had bigger ones. That’s the reality.

Clearly. He went back to a diner to fight a drunk human and destroy property just because he was embarrassed from the first fight.

He destroyed bowling alley property to impress Lana.

But there's a lot of material in comics written by people who have the intention to destroy something that they hate but other people liked.

An easy example seems like the Captain America was a Hydra agent storyline.

It was a fricking mind control story in a 10 issue mini series. Cap's memories were altered by Red Skull in an attempt to take over the world and at the end of the series his normal mind was restored. It was not a writer "trying to destroy something they hate".

The guy broke his hand punching Superman, he spun him in a stool and slid him down a counter. “Beat him up” is a bit strong plus the guy was a nuisance to the establishment who was bullying a waitress when Clark walked in.

Isn't it generally accepted that they had to retcon away the story?

Fan blowback made them walk it back according to the nerds in comic book stores I asked

Captain America as a Hydra Agent

Background

In the Marvel Comics universe, Captain America, originally known as Steve Rogers, was revealed to be a secret agent for Hydra in a controversial storyline. This twist was introduced in the 2016 comic series "Captain America: Steve Rogers," where it was revealed that his past had been altered by the Red Skull using a Cosmic Cube.

Key Events

Transformation: Steve Rogers was transformed into a Hydra agent due to the manipulation of his memories and history. This change was orchestrated by the Red Skull, who aimed to make Hydra a dominant force in the world.

Hydra Supreme: In the "Secret Empire" storyline, this version of Captain America, often referred to as Hydra Supreme, attempted to take over the United States, showcasing a dark side of the character that had previously been a symbol of hope and justice.

Impact on the Character

Public Reaction: The revelation that Captain America was a Hydra agent sparked significant backlash from fans, leading to debates about character integrity and storytelling in comics.

Restoration: Eventually, the true Steve Rogers was restored, and the Hydra version was revealed to be a construct of the Red Skull's manipulation. This allowed the original character to reclaim his identity and heroism.

Conclusion

The storyline of Captain America as a Hydra agent remains one of the most controversial and discussed arcs in Marvel Comics, highlighting themes of identity, manipulation, and the struggle between good and evil

I’m all the way in on Gunn’s DC universe. He won’t please everybody, but he’ll give us good movies.

Same here. If nothing else, the movies will be fun and that’s all I really want

Hey, my bad on coming at you a little hard there at the end.

This goes back to all of the Superman interpretations throughout history. It has always amazed me that people always have their view or interpretation of him and any other interpretation pisses them off. And most of the time their interpretation is only pieces of an entire Superman take. I honestly wanted to write a paper about it in college. It’s astonishing really. Nothing against you. It’s common practice. If you really think about it, you know that’s true. It’s why Superman is so hard to do. I appreciate all of the interpretations. Even the Nic Cage one they never made. It would have been hilarious. So my bad

Her scene in Superman sets up the story - she's getting drunk on a planet with a red sun to celebrate her birthday and she brought Krypto along.

I got a kick out of this scene. A drunk nutty humorous Supergirl will freshen up an otherwise uninteresting character

No problem, I tried to list the basics of the character instead of any particular interpretation as comics runs for so long they have to change up so much and even movies change things too. Thats why I didn’t argue on behalf of the 78 movie and sequel, I agree with you on the points you made about them.
