Really no reason to discuss it here because you can't get three posts before someone cries about politics.

When a shows political slant is so obvious and lopsided, people can't respect the show much less like it.

What a load of crap. The show is overtly liberal and hamfisted.
I had zero problem with West Wing. One of my top shows ever.
The premise of this show was pure crap in season 1. A conservative who spends his entire life attacking conservatives he disagrees with while not ONE FREAKING TIME making any statements about democrats or the loony fringes of their party.
The show is all about politics so I honestly can't think why a discussion of the show WOULDN'T become political.
Other than the dishonesty of most of you because you simply agree with libtards.
I brought up plenty of valid points about why season 1 sucked but the only rebuttal I received is I shouldn't watch it or I should stop worrying about politics.
IT'S A FRACKING POLITICAL SHOW!
The show sucked. The actors were almost universally terrible. Fonda was bad. Sam Waterson, a guy I almost always like was pathetic. It seems his character is supposed to use frick 30 times an episode.
The humor was borderline high school antics. The love plots were terrible. Hell, the romances on SBTB were more realistic. At least they were in high school so they had an excuse for behaving like 14 year olds.
I'll still watch season 2 when it is done and if it has improved I might like it, but stop the nonsense about how I shouldn't pay any attention to the actual CONTENT of the show or the OBVIOUS agenda.
Final point.... once again, the premise is flawed. If Will was a democrat out to push evil Republicans out of the way, it would make sense.
A conservative spending all of his energy to attack other conservatives isn't a real character.
Camile Paglia is close. She spends tons of time attacking her own party, but she also opens up on Republicans the most. Will never attacks liberals.
Hell, even if he jumped ship and became a dem, that would make more sense. As written, season 1 was flawed with too many juvenile relationships and sophomoric humor.
Having said that, I hope season 2 is better. When Sorkin is good, he typically is very good.

I like it but I never watch it on Sunday Night
I usually just catch it on HBOGO during the week.

People on here can't seem to separate themselves from real life for the purpose of entertainment.
I find that part of the show hilarious.
It's not a great show by any means but it's certainly better than most of the hour long dramas on television at this point(save for Breaking Bad)

The responses in this thread do a good job of summing up why it's impossible to discuss the show.

The fact that you wrote a novel bitching about the show and libtards (refreshing AND original), and then said that you were going to watch the second season was my favorite part.

I for one agree w/ the OP... I liked season 1 because despite its political leanings, it's a television show and makes for good entertainment. News networks today lean almost as hard (in both directions) as this show does, so the fact that the show is fiction makes it bearable to me. Season 2 has strayed away from politics almost entirely (Romney campaign is the exception). It shows how major networks can make mistakes that the public generally slams them for (CNN's reporting of Operation Tailwind is the basis for this season) and it gives a look inside some of the possible causes of those mistakes. It also shows the different levels of a news network and its parent company and the type of relationships that exist there. I agree that it is overly dramatic but the dialogue is genuinely intelligent and insightful.

I love Aaron Sorkin and the West Wing is my favorite show of all time. I tried to watch Newsroom and I was really excited about it. I made it through one episode and thought it was complete garbage and never wanted to watch it again.
Is that enough talk for you?

This last episode, Red Team III, was by far the best I've seen. I think the program is serviceable but does have its faults like most shows. Granted I have only caught a handful of episodes here and there, but I have enjoyed the ones I have seen in the past.
I have worked for years at TV stations in large and small markets and the fact of the matter is that most people who are out covering the news on a daily basis, specifically human interest stories, sway more liberal in their sympathies. Even if they vote Republican they have a more open mind to opposing views because in their profession it is necessary to be able to gather and understand facts from opposing sides to really flesh out an issue. That is just my experience anyway.
I think the show does a good job representing the types of individuals that could be in a newsroom environment and the fact that the lens which they tend to see the world through tends to be colored blue not red… for better or worse. The merits of this should stay on the political board.

I once again listed reason I didn't like the show to date and you only focus on the political points which are REAL. Not to mention the horrible premise but I haven't seen ONE person explain why a conservative would spend EVERY show attacking people within his own party.
Show me a real person that acts like Will. Show me one political / Anchor who spends his whole time attacking his own party.
You can't. The person doesn't exist. I tried to do your job for you. I came up with Paglia. She gives it pretty good to Dems but she still spends most of her time hitting Repubs.
You don't want to bring politics into the conversation even though the show is almost 100% about politics.
If I love Sorkin, why wouldn't I continue to watch with the hope he improves the show?
How about rebutting the terrible acting. How about rebutting the almost childish antics of almost the whole cast. How about someone stop having Waterson say frick 40 times an episode. Not that cursing bothers me. Just seems like someone thought it would be cool to have a TV actor curse a lot for shock value and they over did it.
You Sorkonites just want to wash your hands of any criticism because SOME of the criticism is political....in a show 100% about politics.
Evidently you just want a circle jerk about how great the show is. In that case get the F off the internet. We actually like to dig deeper into things around this neck of the woods.
