Resident Evil is headed to television. I have learned that Netflix is developing a scripted series based on the hit action horror franchise. I hear the series will be a Netflix global original. German production and distribution company Constantin Film, which is behind the Resident Evil movies loosely based on the Capcom video game series, is the studio. Search is underway for a showrunner to shepherd the adaptation.

No one is commenting but I hear the plan is for the series to expand the Resident Evil universe and deepen the exiting mythology. I hear the series will keep the basic premise, which also served as a setup for the movie franchise. The drama series will explore the dark inner workings of the Umbrella Corporation and the new world order caused by the outbreak of the T-virus. While the project is in early stages, the series is expected to incorporate all of Resident Evil’s signature elements, including action sequences and “easter eggs.”

Given their work on the MCU shows and House on Haunted Hill, I can get behind this.

I don't understand why RE movies and tv shows always try to create new stories instead of adapting existing properties, which seem interesting enough themselves.

You could say the same for 99% of all movies based off video games.

If the series doesn't focus on Leon Kennedy, Chris Redfield, Ada Wong and Jill Valentine, it is shite.

Excited, but they are going to screw it up.

Hollywood cannot seem to adapt video games to quality shows.

The RE and Tomb Raider movies are great examples. The RE movies were enjoyable, but really left out a lot of stuff that made the games awesome.

They should of just followed the game plots to start.

Tomb Raider was one of the most recent gut wrenching failures. The 2013 TR reboot had a solid story and they should of followed that script word for word. Movie would have made tons more. Instead they blended game releases and added other stuff that made a shitty movie.

I once wanted a Halo movie so bad, but have no faith in them.

The one Halo movie on Netflix was pretty good.

I wish Peter Jackson would get a hold of that franchise.

As long as the cast is diverse, I’m in.

Showtime is in the early stages of production of the Halo series. 10 one hour episodes. I'm trying not to get my hopes up but I think we all know the potential if the material were handled properly.

You talking about "Forward Unto Dawn" or the other one with Spartan Locke?

Forward was pretty good, but the action was pretty light because of budget I assume.

Halo would be awesome if done like the BSG reboot. They need to play out the story though from Halo 1 through Halo 3 and not just try to do something in the Halo Universe.

Halo is so old now, there are a ton of young kids and teens that are not familiar with it and can be sucked in. I have watched Youtube videos of just the cut-scenes just spliced together and those are better than most TV series

It is sad when game developers are better at telling great stories, compared to Hollywood.

My greatest cinematic achievement is sitting through all the resident evil movies.

Claire deserved better after 2.

Her going full on Ripley storyline against Sherry's Monster Incest Murder Dad (MIMD) was legit some of the best video gaming in my life.

Plus her scenario had way less ammo to go fricking Rambo with.

I've always though this or Halflife would make great TV shows.

Looking forward to it.
