Netflix has given a series order to a sequel to the History Channel epic “Vikings,” the streamer announced Tuesday.

The follow-up series, titled “Vikings: Valhalla,” will be set 100 years after the events of the original show. Per Netflix, “Valhalla” will follow “the most famous Vikings who ever lived,” including Leif Erikson, Freydis, Harald Harada and the Norman King William the Conqueror.

“Vikings” creator Michael Hirst will return as an executive producer on the series from MGM Television, with Jeb Stuart serving as writer and showrunner. “Vikings” alum Morgan O’Sullivan will also executive produce.

...Added Netflix Originals exec Channing Dungey, “Vikings: Valhalla promises to be everything that fans love about the franchise: heart-pounding, unstoppable action rooted in rich characters and dramatic storytelling that shines the light on family, loyalty and power. We are thrilled to bring the next iteration of the Vikings saga to life with Michael Hirst, Jeb Stuart, Morgan O’Sullivan and MGM Television.”

So like the 1st 4 season hopefully. That was a fantastic show that fell off with epic proportions. I can't ever remember another show that was actually one of my favorites to a show that I couldn't stand to watch one season later.

I was exactly the same. I hung in there a bit after Ragnar but before long I couldn’t stand the show. Never finished it.

Watching Last Kingdom now. Hope it stays the course.

I can tell you that Harald Hardrada was a mercenary in Russia before serving in the Varangian Guard in Constantinople.

Leif Erikson was a generation before Harald and William the Conqueror but he went to the new world so his storyline will likely involve fighting natives.
