Following the success of “Bright,” Netflix is moving forward with a sequel. Will Smith and Joel Edgerton are attached to reprise their roles, with David Ayer returning to write and direct the second installment.

...Nielsen recently announced that the first pic, which premiered on Dec. 22, was viewed by 11 million people in its first three days of release. This means it was less popular than “Stranger Things” Season 2, but a bigger hit than the second season of “The Crown.”

Netflix touted “Bright” as the highest-viewed original film ever on the service in its launch week and one of the biggest originals it has ever debuted. They also added that “Bright” is the No. 1 movie on Netflix in every country, with more international than domestic viewers.

I loved the little touches like the dragon flying no in the background. Interesting world they built.

I'm glad to hear this. I think this show is a neat concept, but I wish it was a series.

I think this is why I didn't really like the movie the first time. I realized I had so many questions about the backstory and I was caught off guard by the racism angle.

Stranger Things, The Crown, and Bright are all strong performers for Netflix.

I thought Stranger Things 2 didn't have the same oomph of the first season... but then again what would? Some episodes of season 2 of The Crown dragged a bit but it was still great.

Bright was much, much, better then the critics gave it credit for. It was well acted, had good pace, and left just enough on the plate so to speak, that you wanted more.

Netflix created a really cool new IP and a new universe in the Scifi/fantasy genre and the critics panned it but audiences loved it. Netflix green lit a sequel and everyone is excited.

Disney bought and is destroying one of the best franchises on that genre. Critics loved it but audiences hated it. No one even cares about the third movie in the trilogy.

This could be the moment we look back on as the death of the old dinosaur studios and the rebirth of risk taking and new creative challenges in film.

SO they said there was 9 races in the world:

Humans
Orcs
Elves
Centaurs
Dragons? (is that a race?)

What were the other 4/5?

Looks like they dropped Max Landis after some of the stories of his behavior have been coming out.

His show, Dirk Gently, on BBC America was also cancelled. I really liked the show.

Oh frick. Nevermind.

David Ayer WROTE suicide squad. He is a competent director. He is not at all a competent writer. I hope they hire a new writer.

One person here doesn't like fun it seems.

I'm looking forward to continuing their story or moving to new characters.
