7 of them have false summits where the majority of people turn around often by mistake because some have prayer flags and markers at the false summit. The main one is the one I mentioned in a previous post: Shishapangma.

That’s clearly higher than where you are at the false summit. How is anyone turning around there by mistake?

So I watched this doc last night and damn, what a bunch of assholes that they had on and featured. You get to see who people really are when things get real.

The book was so good because Krakauer is such a good writer, anything he has written is a recommend. That being said Into Thin Air did Anatoli Boukreev a disservice.

as you know, but for everyone else who may not be as well read on this topic, there is actually a tremendous amount of controversy regarding that 1996 expedition. Beck Weathers was another guy on that trip who survived (barely) and wrote a book that is a pretty decent read.

lots of material out there on this topic, even if you dont stray far past wikipedia.

Watched this last night, the Israelis were asshats, the HIV guy was and idiot on so many levels, I would call out the chick for being glad for being a woman so she could get out first, but she went on to be a badass.

I don’t know man, eating the arse of a fine woman in a warm bed seemed a little more comforting than trapped on a mountain from an avalanche.

Those Jews were 1 day in survival mode and go straight for the money
