You said Titanic too. Why not go ahead and say the Avengers and Avatar while you're at it.

John Boorman made THE definitive King Arthur film...in 1981.
Timeless.

ETA: Helen Mirren, the original "Red Witch" (with and without her collar)

The latter two are not older. Titanic is 20 Years old.

'That some may not have seen'

It's the second highest grossing movie of all time. Everyone has seen titanic. Come on.

Here, I'll play. 'Night Moves' with gene hackman. Excellent thriller many may not remember. Klute. Shampoo. Two other great 70's films that are under the radar today.

Everyone needs to see Lawrence of Arabia simply to see Peter O'Toole's performance. I still think that's the finest performance by an actor in cinematic history and certainly the finest performance that didn't get the Oscar.

Why are you busting my chops over nothing? From the infantile offerings that make up so much of the content on the Rant, a 20 year old movie might not be that well known.

"The film was nominated for ten Oscars at the 35th Academy Awards in 1963; it won seven in total: Best Picture, Best Director, Best Original Score, Best Cinematography (Color), Best Art Direction (Color), Best Film Editing and Best Sound Mixing. It also won the Golden Globe Award for Best Motion Picture - Drama and the BAFTA Awards for Best Film and Outstanding British Film."

Glad I brought it up.

Gregory Peck won best actor for "To Kill A Mockingbird", another very memorable film.

Casablanca was another timeless film, famous for having no less than seven subplots. Also probably the best packaged propaganda film ever. Look for the United States of America in a supporting role.

I stick my neck out for nobody.

As good as that performance was (also one of the best ever), I still think O'Toole's is better. Him as Lawrence was absolutely mesmerizing.

Yes that is a great performance.

I mentioned The Lion in Winter earlier. He and Katherine Hepburn are awesome in that movie, also Anthony Hopkins in his first film and Timothy Dalton - that is a great film -- one of my top three.

Great movies have great lines and Lion has its fair share.

Henry: "What shall we hang, the holly or each other!?"

True Grit with John Wayne is another fabulous movie. It seems like every line in it is a great line.

Mattie: "Do you need a good lawyer?"

Lucky Ned: "I need a good judge."

There is a depressing number of puerile movies making the cut on some lists on this thread.
