I disagree,Jeff has offered to trade his finds which is why he found all the items in the first place. Matt could have shared the extra bow or even traded with Jeff for a knife. Was could have shared the extra fishing gear but chose to just give Jejj 2 hooks and line and Jeff gave Waz a knife in return. Steven had a chance to trade a bow for a hide to keep his partner warm but chose not to.
Matt manipulated the group against Jeff, but they all were willing because they all feel like Jeff is the strongest competitor.
So happy to see Matt leave the contest...

Well Matt is out. I didn't like his holier than thou attitude about Jeff when he's just as much of a competitor. They just have different strategies. But rather than accepting that it's just a game, he made it personal... Like Jeff said. I'm sure Matt will be fine after he gets healed up, so I'm glad he's out. Now the rest of the cancel culture tribe will have to hunt for themselves.

I'm really interested in seeing how the show goes forward now that Matt is gone. I kinda think Gary is going to speak up more and team up with Jeff more. I was disappointed in Jeff in the elimination though. He took a lot longer to find the object than it should have. I'm really starting to think Dan is the favorite over Jeff.

I really don't like the way editing is being done. They led you to believe Gary finished first (very clever taking the gourd to the river) when it was someone else. They are intentionally doing misdirection and that annoys the hell out of me. I get building up drama with the final 2 but the rest of it was unnecessary.

I was expecting Matt to lose. His leg is a liability and when Jeff took the Gourd to the River and Matt left his I knew then it was game over for Matt.

I still don't think Jeff is going to win. On the elimination challenges he's come close to losing and I see his luck running out.

If I had to predict a winner I feel Dan has the best chance. The Editing had had him kinda off to the side which I feel is a set up. He's a fast runner and pretty quick at these elimination challenges. We'll see on next week's finale.

FWIW, It looks like Gary and Jeff should have been Disqualified based on these rules taken from a Screen-Grab of the contest rules:

It clearly says the water has to be transported to the location of the gourds and Gary and Jeff took the gourds to the river.

Thoughts?

Yeah, those instructions are pretty clear you need to take the water up to the gourds.

It also said people will be put into separate groups in the 2nd and 3rd reshuffling, yet everyone ignored that.

I wonder why there's very little enforcement of the rules on this show.

I'm definitely team Dan. He's been the most impressive thus far. All it takes is one mistake in one of these challenges though so it really is anybody's game still.

Matt was getting to be a bit much, but honestly if I had to spend that much time around Jeff I'd probably start to be pretty douchey as well.

Instead of just playing the game to accomplish the goal, he spends more time trying to lie and trick the others. While he was so proud of himself for making the fake fishing asset and throwing feathers around to fool them, the rest of the group actually found the goose to eat.

The finale was last night. It was over 3 hours long and still felt like they rushed the ending. They spent way too much time watching Jeff though I guess I understand why given all the drama with him this season.

Going into it, I never would have guessed the final 2. Happy they were the ones to make it though.

Overall, I loved this change up season. They've already announced they are doing another "Last One Standing" since the ratings for this one did so well.

quote:

Since its May 7 premiere, the series has reached 15.7 million total viewers and is averaging a 0.98 Live +3 rating among Adults 25-54. The ten-episode series is Discovery Channel’s highest-rated series of 2023 to date and the #2 freshman cable series so far this year among Adults 25-54 and Men 25-54. The program also is on track to be the network’s highest-rated freshman series in five years.

They need to do a better job next season with the specific elimination challenges. Some of them had pretty vague rules and the survivors handled them very differently.

I'd also like it if the camps were more spread out to eliminate the joining forces aspect we got toward the end.

Interested to see how this castaway season turns out. Looks a lot different than anything they've had before.

Loved this season! I was surprised 3 of the last five could not make fire in 3 days! I think it came down to being lucky and finding the right base, but Naz did say that slowing down and using a longer bow was the key. After there were 5 I correctly predicted jeff and gary would be out but didn't say Steven. Improvements - like was said before is abidance of the rules should be enforced more, but on the spot and not afterwards. Also wish Laura Zappa would return. After I thought about it Naz never acted like he was really down or really tired, he remained the steadiest throughout. The younger guy did also till the very last episode. Naz really showed his fire making skills throughout the series and they helped him win the game.

Did anyone notice that discovery missed a blur? In the last episode.

Just caught up on the last 2 episodes. Great season. DIssapointed that it was such a struggle for seasoned survivors to make fire. I would have thought it would have been easier for them. Also disappointed that Steven just kind of quit. Would have expected more from him. Glad that Jeff got the boot after the idiot tricks he was playing. He should have kept his mouth shut and worried more about his game than trying to throw others off theirs. I would be ok if they never brought him back, but they will since he is now gone full on villain.
Looking forward to the next series.

It says "You must use these reeds to transport water to the area marked on this map."

One could claim they filled the reeds and walked it up to the area on the map, thus following the rules. It doesn't say you cannot move the gourd once you've found it.

I did catch one of the other competitors (probably Matt) say something to Gary or Jeff "oh, you carried the gourd down?" The inflection was that Matt didn't think that was following the rules.

I think the spirit of the rules was that you had to continue transporting the water in the reeds up to the gourd, but the rules are just vague enough that I think Jeff and Gary are in the clear.

I think if Gary or Jeff had won it may be an issue, but it ended up working itself out. Matt would never have made that 3 day extraction, if he was able to make a primitive fire at all.
