A lot of ppl here like survival shows and we all know N&A has a lot of staged elements.

With that said, I watched this new competitive version and I liked it. It's a combination of traditional N & A with a little "Survivor" mixed it.

It starts off with 6 teams of 2 of the best players of the show. They start off with nothing but a map and are sent on a scavenger hunt to find essential items like knives, bows/quiver, pots, fire-starter and even a dead Impala to have.

The big rub is if your partner voluntarily taps you are gone too. They can stay if it's a medical tap. They have to relocate every 7 days and according to next weeks trailer it looks like there will be elimination challenges.

They play for a 100,000 cash prize which seems a little weak.

This will hold me over until the GOAT of survival shows, ALONE, starts on June 8th.

I kinda hate when they do the Naked and Afraid "allstars" episodes. It's really only interesting to me when it's people that don't know how to do it.

My wife and I marathoned N&A XL last weekend. I can’t imagine anyone wanting to do that multiple times in their lives. It looked like hell.

I've watched all the XL challenges and they set this one up perfectly. The XL ones with huge groups of people created relationships/feuds among them all and now they are directly competing against each other. Should make for great television.

My favorite part so far is everyone finally being honest about their disdain for Jeff. He's annoyed me for years with his "This is what I live for!!!" screaming all the time. Gary used to be the one I hated the most, but Jeff has surpassed him.

Loved seeing Waz and Dan both come back from the last XL.
Sucks what happened to Amber - she's usually awesome

Agreed. I like Gary. He's a timebomb but I don't think he's out to hurt anyone except himself with unnecessary risks.

What makes this challenger so unique is we will see a sides of everyone's personalities we have seen.

If they only could have gotten Bulent Gurcan to participate. That would have been gold.

Gary used to annoy me, but he's honestly become the comic relief of the show with his 'anything goes' attitude that usually gets himself knocked out altogether

I was cheering when Waz basically told Jeff to F off with his deal making proposal.

Episode 2 was pretty good. Jeff is either a good actor or in complete denial as to what is going on around him. He acts like everyone thinks he is the top dog so they are working together to bring him down. In reality, they all think he is a prick so they are working together to keep him from screwing them all over.

While everyone else is somewhat helping one another, Jeff follows Matt to the bow and arrow and is basically rooting for him to fall out of the tree.

Very interesting tease for next episode where Jeff's partner acknowledges the fact that she can tap out and bring Jeff down with her if she wants.

Unlike "Survivor", where everyone is a stranger and is out to be a cutthroat, these people have known each other for sometime and most of them are friends. This makes Jeff strategy questionable. In fact, it's put a collective bullseye on his back Matt has formed a collective to to neutralize Jeff.

Jeff's team mate Stacey, is the random element that can blow Jeff up. She is obviously uncomfortable with Jeff and she could tap out and take Jeff with him if she chooses.

So far this new twist is interesting and entertaining.

I absolutely despise him! I'm shocked at his ability to want to throw Steven's water pot in the river then pray for guidance!! I mean, I'd hate to see a leopard drag him up into a tree....but...lol!

I don't really get the Jeff hate. Why would you not want to get as many items as you can? I did think it was funny when Matt's hunting kept getting screwed up. I do wonder how much of this is scripted.

I agree. Jeff is just playing the game. He wants to win. What’s wrong with that? So he thinks about throwing pots in the river- so what? He didn’t do it and I’m sure everyone else has thought about sabotaging the other people. Jeff just says it out loud. I like him and I’m rooting for him to win. He is alone now and still doing well. Matt is just as ruthless- he just plays everyone to think he’s this great guy. He isn’t. He is so full of himself and manipulates people to hate Jeff. Waz is turning into a little b****. Everyone turning on one person is childish and makes their character look bad. Teaming up against 1 person is chickens***. Who will the herd team up against if they get Jeff out? Matt will manipulate the group to team up against someone else. He’s a wolf in sheep’s clothing.

This is true. I think what turns Jeff off is the taunting and trash talk. As for Matt, I'm a big fan of him but I agree with some of the shade your are throwing at him.

I have to keep in mind how this show is edited to create these personality conflicts and I think the producers spin these people up to act in certain ways for the camera.

I'm really interested in what happens at day 21. Will they have to become solo contestants? Will they be allowing to change partners? Will they become one big tribe? Will they insert new players?

Jeff is the only one who won't just lend something or outright give something to another team. Everything has to benefit himself in some way. That's fine and all since it is a competition, but people shouldn't act confused at the Jeff hate when everyone else has helped other teams without asking for anything in return.

I'm liking this version of the show. Jeff is playing the game, but he is just an obnoxious douche. Matt hasn't done really anything, he kind of teams up and is mooching. Dan and his chick seem to be quietly accomplishing alot.

Currently watching the XL challenge from 2022 in the Amazon and that’s pretty spot on when it comes to Jeff and Matt. Up until we cut the cord we watched everything Naked and Afraid, I’m not surprised these two are at the forefront of a challenge that’s actually worth money.

Dan & Cheeny are my favorite pairing by far. They are doing awesome and seem to work perfectly together.

I was cracking up when Dan was climbing down Matt's shoulders and he joked about the obvious issue doing that naked.

Last Episode:

In a nutshell, they made it to day 21 and now we know what the next phase is. They are no longer in teams of 2 that are "connected". They have been split into two teams of 4 as each pair had to chose which path to take at fork in the paths to to meet their need team.

The drama was created as the episode ended, we were left hanging on which path Jeff and Matt took.

Jeff has really put a target on his back as the villain. With that said, Gary is becoming a weasel by playing both sides of the fence.

The huge honey score was huge. They must have taken 20-25 pounds of honey and honeycomb out. You could see everyone perk right up when they sugar hit their system.

While I'm enjoying the show it seems this particular challenge is going to break up some friendships. Steven seems really conflicted with Jeff.

It will be interesting to see which team Jeff ends up with because he loaded with survival items. Will he share them with his new team? There's a lot of hurt feelings going on right now.

Hate the cliffhanger of where Jeff and Matt end up. It does seem like one group is going to be much stronger than the other. I assume Matt ends up with Was, Steven, and Dan. And Jeff with the others. Just a guess. Going to be real uncomfortable for a few folks.
And also, Gary is freaking nuts going after that hive, but it was a huge score.
