You are all totally pulling stuff out of your asses. She got knocked over and dropped the ball. She smiled later because she was happy for her little sister.

The only way to come to this conclusion is to assume that she made this decision at the split second little sis plows into her. Because se had numerous chances before that to frick up. She could have bothced the throw home, she could have bobbled the ball. And oh yeah, she told the pitcher how to stike her out. Why would she tell hot blond how to strike her little sister out if she wanted to lose the game anyway?

There is absolutely nothing in the movie that supports the conclusion that Dottie dropped it on purpose.

Nothing, zilch zero, nada!

Good day sir!

It was also intended to be "tongue in cheek" since this has been an ongoing feud on this board.

Ahhh... Relevant information. I need it. That makes sense. I knew you hadn't yelled at her as I can and did read your OP. If you read my post, I didn't say you yelled at her. I referred to the desire to yell at her.
Regardless, it is now cleared up. It wasn't that you were going to yell at her or even that you were yelling because of the insight being somehow so egregious to warrant such a reaction, but because of the situation on this board. Got it. My b.

Just wildly and woefully inaccurate.

A League of Their Own debate

Because I can't stomach having to rehash this whole argument again.

I did find it interesting that she spontaneously said what she said. Absolutely no prompting from me at all.

I've seen the movie like a hundred times and I can't see how that has anything to do with what I'm talking about.

We do have this debate a lot. It comes down to using events in the movie or trying to "interpret" things.

Its because she is not overly influenced by a desire to win and compete. Your own emotions cloud your judgement on this issue.

It was a woman doing something you don't understand, so concoct the solution in your male mind.

She dropped it on purpose because it meant more to her sister.

She saw her baby sister from the Little League years running at her. . .

Like the speech from Little Giants, she let this be Kit's "one time".

I don't get it either. If it's one thing that I've learned it's that there is no convincing them. They believe what they want to believe. When I was a little kid I used to think she dropped it on purpose, because that's what my sister had always told me. Then when I got older and watched the movie I realized how much of a bullshite interpretation that was.

It's beyond me that they are willing to ignore all the context which clearly points to Dottie wanting to win regardless of Kit's feelings and then she throws the game on the last play. There's no honor in throwing the game, for Kit or Dottie. It's really an absolutely awful ending if that were true. But more than that, it's just absolutely improbable given the movie's context.

Why people can't see Kit's determination to win and outplaying Dottie in that one instance is beyond me. IMO the moment is way greater because Kit FINALLY stepped out of Dottie's shadow...on her own...by winning on that play.

You have irrefutable scientific evidence to support your claims that run contrary to the accepted view of the event?

Cuz he did.

Is your evidence more concrete than the opposition, or is it also just based on your subjective analysis?
