Holy crap. I blocked those atrocities from my mind. These are at the very top of the list.

Not really.. In fact, one of the jokes of the movie is that no one knows anything about where the captain comes from. The only other "background" they give is that all of Ryan's brothers were Kia

umm... that was part of his characterization brah.

and we learn plenty about the guys in the group a the movie goes along.

more than LS thats for sure.

The Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy.

I personally loved the movie, just could of been better in regards of going more by the book.

but episode 3 in particular.

looking back, episode 1 just seems like an attempt to get kids to watch. which is fine, whatever.

episode 2 is totally unnecessary. so much more was done with less in the original trilogy. we didn't need a whole movie to show anakin's relationship with both padme and obi wan. then on top of that completely eff up the execution and dialogue of those relationships.

but episode 3 couldv'e been better and it was the best of the prequels as it is.

Haven't even seen it yet, but the new Robocop could be better. It's pg-13, lame!

How could you not care about the characters in LS?

I believe they provided a prefect amount of back story. The only amount needed, and it is done in one conversation.

The entire characterization takes place when Ben Foster(Mathew 'Axe' Axelson) presents his case for killing the insurgents.

"I care about you, and you, and you. I don't care about them. I don't care about anyone else besides my brothers."

They were not empty shells. These guys had families and back stories. But NONE of that is as important to them as the bond they share with the other guys on that TEAM with them.

Because they should have.

To do that book justice, it would take a 15 hour movie.
