The Sandlot.
The movie was based in the early 60's but was released in 1993 (I think). Probably saw it for the 1st time in 1995-1996 and it was literally my childhood. We played baseball/football in an empty field. If we weren't playing sports we were riding our bikes everywhere.
Absolutely. There was a green space in my neighborhood where we played ball so much in the early 90s the basepaths were worn out. Looking on Google Earth there are too many trees now to play in that field... maybe some neighbors planted some more to dissuade balls in their yards.

I’m not sure how someone can watch To Sir with Love and want to live in 1967 working class London.
My list included Midnight Cowboy, and To Sir with Love was what threw you?

If someone wants a time warp to know what the decade was like, just watch all of those. They encapsulate basically every genre perfectly.
So if someone wants to know what the 90's was like, you would tell them to watch TMNT, Angels in the Outfield, Blank Check, and Rookie of the Year?

And then just about every boy who was a kid in the ‘80s and had any sense of fun and adventure about them is sentimental toward The Goonies.
Not true. I grew up in the eighties, have never watched The Goonies and never will. The same with E.T.

lot of early 80's movies do that for me, like Hot Pursuit or The Manhattan Project or The Sure Thing.
The Manhattan Project reminded me to throw Cloak and Dagger on the list.

That's not something to be proud of.

I never spent much time watching movies back then. We spent the majority of our time outside doing shite. Most of my free time indoors was spent reading and listening to music.

Depending on how old you were in the 90s...
Clueless
Mallrats
Swingers
Office Space

70's Bad News Bears is still funny and a great sports movie. I was playing 10 and under ball when that movie was out.

These are the two from the 90s that hit closest to home for me. The scene where they were all playing hockey on Sega before they'd go out to clubs blew me away. My friends and I used to play sega while we were getting ready to go out and NHL 95 was the go-to game( I think that they were playing 94 in the movie, but still...).
With Office Space, when he had that epiphany while he was being hypnotized about just wanting to do "nothing", I could totally relate. Nothing would make me happier than just having the free time to do whatever I want with.
