Planet of the Apes films dipped in quality but they are still dear to my heart.

Did you see the last planet of the apes movie from the original series? My god is it bad. The apes somehow travel back through time. They have some kind of family drama in modern day New York I think. It's been a little while since I saw it, but I'm pretty sure they have a baby ape that is played by a real chimpanzee. Talk about a flaming pile of shite. I think they also tried to make a sitcom. I could be wrong on that. This is the definition of taking a franchise too far.
Eta: nvm. It was the third out of five. I didn't even know they went that far with it.

Escape from the Planet of the Apes was in Los Angeles. That's actually my second favorite of the franchise. It reverses the roles of the original. The 5th one looked like a made for tv movie. And for the record, I liked the tv series.

I'm pretty much in agreement with this. Unless the story was originally intended to take up multiple movies, I feel sequels are pretty much unwarranted.
I'm going to say The Matrix. The sequels should have been done through video games. I feel that way for a lot of franchises, meaning the story should continue in another medium other than film.

Dude Fast and Furious aside from Tokyo Drift have been all good, the story is starting to get even better, can't wait for Fast 6.

Am I the only one that noticed this is a 5 month old thread that got bumped and people are responding to stuff like it was posted today?

Terminator Salvation bombed because they had it as part 1 of a trilogy. If they crammed all of the story in one movie, it may have been decent.

Salvation sucked and I was insulted when the studio, cast, and crew were trying to pimp the whole "machine that doesn't know its a machine" junk as a new idea as if stuff like Blade Runner and the new Battlestar Galactica didn't already mine that territory.
