Most food networks challenge shows are a fraud

Not because of the contestants, but the setups are unfair to the contestants.
- You should not have one ice cream machine for four people.
- You could be the best chef on the show and go home because of a team challenge.
If you want a true champion everyone needs to be on equal footing, with access to the same equipment, and stand on their own work.

My favorite is them showing the countdown of the clock running out for a challenge, and somehow, without fail every time, every contestant is finishing JUST in the nick of time.

It's entertainment, baw, not real life.

I disagree - if you give each of them the same equipment, then they will all take the easy route - having 1 ice cream machine pushed them to be creative imho.

you are right, but most chef's have a team of underlings in the restaurant that helps, but they are expected to lead them and guide them. no difference here, as a Chef you should be experienced to help the team as a whole excel.
where I think the team aspect is a negative, is when you get the contestant that no matter what is gonna do their own thing, not be a team player and it fricks over the entire team. when that happens, the other contestants get to take ditty bags full of soap, and beat the shite out of them in a back allyway

Watching Beat Bobby Flay, it's pretty easy to tell which one's his dish (the one that is least authentic). The judges just go with which one they think is his.

And this is why Iron Chef is the GOAT food challenge show.

or deep fryer.
however, part of these competitions isn't just talent, but strategy and timing/work efficiency.

Bobby Flay a wheezing bag of dick tips

It takes forever to film the judging sequences. By the end the food has been sitting for well over an hour.

Master Chef Australia is absolutely the best food competition show there is. Completely different format than the American version. It's really legit.

I liked the channel better when they cooked something and talked about it while they did it. I hate all of those competition shows. Only time I ever see them is when I take my parents to their cardiologist.
