Melting is just whining about something and doing nothing about it. Seems like people aren’t just “melting” over Lightyear. No one is seeing it.
Whatever you need to tell yourself.

Well, it’s a flop because people are actively avoiding it… so I don’t have to tell myself anything.

Because their can't possibly be any reasons for that other than Covid or widespread Magaflaking....
It couldn't possibly be that the tone and animation do not capitalize on what people loved about Toy Story.

Covid
quote:Toy Story has had a very serious tone since TS2 with very serious themes. And animating real people has never been an issue for Disney or Pixar and isn’t what kept anyone away. There hasn’t been a single review from a journalist or regular viewer who has said anything was wrong with the animation.

Not going to lie. My kids have enjoyed dreamworks/illumination movies a lot more than Disney /Pixar over the last few years.

None of those things are true for Lightyear.
Dude, they’ve sold more Buzz Lightyear action figures than Mickey Mouse dolls. That’s how popular Buzz is.

I've yet to see 4, much less Lightyear.
4 kind of works if you simply look at it as an epilogue to the trilogy and nothing more. They were really scrapping the bottom of the barrel for ideas and locations that would be relevant for toys. All they had was an antique show, the fair, and Bonnie making a toy out of a spork. All the others had very interesting ideas and locations for toys, but that one was just kind of lame. It doesn’t suck, but it’s not the masterpiece the other three are.

Because the quality was down big time from what Pixar used to be. Barring Cars, the streak from Toy Story to Toy Story 3 is incredible. The only films they’ve made in the past decade worth a shite are Inside Out and Coco.

I liked the original Toy Story, but my interest decreased a bit with each successive movie. I've yet to see 4, much less Lightyear. Maybe one day.
This right here. Lightyear is just a MEH premise. No one asked for it, and no one is going to watch it until it hits D+. I promise you folks it has very little to do with a same-sex kiss. But rage on.

The biggest factor I think is not bringing back Tim Allen for the role. Chris Evans sounds nothing like Tim Allen. He was clearly cancelled for being right wing, which I’m sure you’re cool with these days since you think it’s appropriate to mutilate and castrate kids if they think they were born in the wrong body despite the vast majority growing out of that.

Last man standing got the ax because of his politics. Not so sure about this honestly. They’re bringing him back for the Santa clauses this Christmas. TV show on Disney+.
I think the biggest issue is that people were initially hesitant because of the wokeness… and then people who actually saw it said it wasn’t good. Parents found no reason to go. Had it been a good story that was fun and heartwarming like classic Pixar, it would have more staying power. But Pixar has been such a letdown lately. Parent hesitancy coupled with a mediocre product means bomb.

Yeah, but that’s just throwing him a bone. The Santa Clause probably has a hundredth of the world wide recognition he has as Bud Lightyear. Honestly until it was brought up, I don’t think that movie has passed through my mind in well over a decade.

Minions are basically the goose which lays the golden egg. Only way they can screw it up is to slay what makes them what they are. Kinda like South Park. Just keep doing what made them popular.

Minions projections increased to $98 mil for the 3-day weekend. Lightyear officially Pixar’s worst performing second weekend drop.
