Yeah, I personally was hooked 1 episode in, but I can understand the poster above not necessarily getting "it" yet.

The show seems to come in waves and progressively ramps things up each additional episode. But if you are liking it 1 episode in, it only gets better.

The first 4 or 5 episodes are pretty damn good, but it kind of falls apart the last 2 episodes. Turns into a cheap c-rate horror film.

I think this is what I enjoyed most tbh.

This. The cinematography was great. They couldn't have done a better job. Out of curiosity, do you know where it was filmed? I assume somewhere off the New England coast or the Pacific Northwest perhaps?

It was intriguing the first few episodes. You were trying to get a sense of what was going on, who people are, who is good, who is bad. However, it just drug on and grew more and more stale, and then the last couple of episodes were a surprise. Hamish Linkalter did a great job.

6/10 or 7/10.

I think where it didn’t stick the landing in the last 2 episodes was not knowing what kind of show it wanted to be. Don’t want to spoil it for OP but there was some discussion threads when it came out that talks about it.

I don't think it fully stuck the landing either, whereas Bly and Hill House did, but c-rate is harsh and I think hyperbole. The problem to me was more that episodes 1-2 are very good, albeit a slower burn, 3-5 are absolutely incredible, while 6 is very good, and 7 is just good and going from incredible to good feels like a bit of a letdown. Could have kept that episode int he oven a bit longer but still a great overall show IMO.

I don’t think I’ve disagreed more with anything in my entire life.

the last episode in particular was just incredibly disjointed to me. I only watched it once, but that is how I remember it. Maybe I should watch it again.

I enjoyed it. As mentioned, the cinematography, setting, and the feel is superb. I don’t think the last episode falls off or was bad. Just enjoy it and don’t overthink it. I do remember there being a few plotholes

This is how I felt about it. The beginning was very intriguing.

This is a bit harsh IMO.

OP it's definitely worth the watch. I would say it wobbles the last couple episodes though.

I would say episode 7 isn't as strong but 3-6 is just incredible TV to me, especially 4, 5 and 6.

Totally agree. I was so disappointed in the second half of the season after an awesome build up in the first half. It turned into a mid 1990s-2000s movie you'd see back then on the Syfy channel.

We watch the same finale? You guys don’t know how to critique without hyperbole

just looked it up. Says it was filmed in Vancouver. I figured it was filmed in Canada, but thought maybe on the east coast.

Maybe you just have bad taste. You’ve provided lots of evidence over the years.

Nah, that's an absurdist take

The ending itself is fine, the pacing could have used some work, and the show suffers a bit cause the strongest episodes are in the middle, but 90's sci fy show either shows someone too young is reaching for lazy criticism, or it's a sign of early onset dementia.

The cinematography, acting, and the story itself, even in the weakest epsidoes is miles above the average sci fy series factory dreck

the ending (last episode) was comically dumb. Remember the Geico commercial where the girl want to get in the running car but the rest wanted to hide behind the chainsaws? Well, this was worse than that. I cant explain without spoiling it, but it ruined a pretty decent show up until that point.
