Thought it was excellent and Owen Wilson was great. Cool movie in general.

Its truly showing of the quality of this board that there is only one mention of Midnight in Paris while there are hundreds of mentions of stupid television shows and movies like Harry Potter.
The best way to see a movie is to know nothing at all about it before you enter. And that's how I approached this movie. I hadn't seen a single trailer, read a review, or even seen a movie poster. As soon as I sat down to the pleasant intro scene of the mundane snapshots of Paris life I knew I was in a movie worth seeing.
When Owen Wilson came on screen I had mixed feelings. He is a fuzzy, warm character who plays the same character in every movie that you can't help but to like, but is he the sort of character for an artsy movie? The more I watched, the more I felt I was Owen's character. He connected with at least one viewer.
Rachel McAdams is the anti-Woman: the woman every man should fear and hate, yet many men desire. You should grow to loathe such a woman, and, if you're like me, you will see many women in her. So sad that so many young girls aspire to be like McAdams' character.
The movie is a bit Field of Dreams, a bit Bill & Ted's Excellent Adventure, a bit Dead Poets Society. The cheesy parts don't ruin the movie, but they don't strengthen it either. To make up for the ignorance of many viewers, the writer thought it necessary for some of the characters to introduce themselves through a sort of encyclopedic monologue device. It's helpful if you are uneducated; annoying if you know the characters already.
I absolutely love the cinematography. The lighting and scenes are phenomenal. The acting is surprisingly high brow. The dialogue, particularly Hemmingway's is good and at times hilarious. At the end of the day, this movie succeeds in being a modern morality tale about living in the eternal now.

I'm positive you're more like the pedantic a-hole.

Certainly not. If I wanted to impress you with my knowledge, I would.

Too late I already know it's a Woody Allen movie. Thus my disinterest.

I have not been to a feature film twice on its first run in decades until Midnight in Paris. It is an excellent film in all respects. I am not an Owen Wilson fan, but he is very good and convincing in this movie. I've had a copy of A Moveable Feast sitting around my book piles for years and picked it up to read as a result of viewing this film. I would highly recommend it.

Woody Allen sucks for the most part

Brah, Harry Potter is legit

Woody doesn't have anything on Michael Bay or Christopher Nolan

Woody has about 1 good movie for every 5 bad ones.
But when he's good, he's good. Manhattan, Hannah and Her Sisters, Crimes and Misdemeanors, and even recently with Mathpoint, are all good dramas.

I'm not sure I get the comparison I'm just not into Woody Allen movies. I've never seen one Harry Potter movie either.
I'm just saying for my part anyway that's why there's been no talk on the board of this movie from me.

It's all good. I mean, you might not like Allen, but for the entire board, except one, to ignore this movie like it has is pretty telling.

You're probably right don't listen to me. I doubt most people even know it's a Woody movie so I have no clue why nobody is talking about it.
I did hear Dennis Miller and a guest he had on his radio show raving about this movie the other day. That's pretty much the only buzz I've heard of it.
A lot of movies fly under the radar.

Why are people suddenly talking about this movie? I saw it years ago and personally I thought it was overrated. All it was was a stupid spoiled whore and a steroid pumping frickhead going after it. And her lazy eye and her ridiculously annoying voice made me want to switch it to something else.

I thought it just came out?

I'm pretty sure it came out in the mid-2000s. I thought everyone had seen at least some portions of it. Watched it with a hooker a few years ago and we found it just awful for getting off on.

It only came out around 4 months ago.
For the record there have been at least 3 or 4 other threads on this movie.
