If I’m wanting to start a classic tv series which should I go with?

I've watched plenty of Mash episodes but didn't follow it closely and it was ok but Cheers with the exception of the first couple of seasons or so was just great comedy tv. A lot of different characters you can relate to which are all written very well. I also think it would hold up very well over the time which it was made.

Cheers if you're going to watch MASH past the Trapper John seasons.

Did Mash not hold up well? I was strongly considering watching it as my next series.

Mash is more hit and miss.

Both worthy but there's a reason cheers is still talked about as goat.

Mash is an all-time show though.

Can't go wrong.

Cheers all the way.

Mash is pretentious and preachy.

Mash was a dramedy that took itself too seriously and always seemed to have a message or lesson to teach. Alan alda is insufferable.

But if you do watch it, know this. Frank burns was the best character on the show.

Cheers is better overall. I liked it better with Rebecca than Diane so you might want to jump in at season 6.

I'd say look for individual episodes for MASH.

There was one where Hawkeye wanted a new pair of boots and had to do a favor for someone to get them. Which required him to get a favor from someone else, and so on. That was funny enough that it was the first episode I remembered.

Yeah there are a few.

I always liked the episode where they try to get some bbq ribs delivered from Chicago.

Hawkeye ordered mass quantities with all kinds of sides and shite. He had to make so many deals to get them, that by the time they arrived the order was whittled down to one rack and a cup of sauce. And then wounded came in as he was sitting down to eat them.

Good stuff.

The one without Alan Alda.

Cheers was one of the most consistently funny shows to ever see air time.

Adam's Ribs
"You ordered all the way from Chicago and no Cole slaw. Trapper telling an old flame who is picking them up the sauce is in place of real blood. Hawkeye says they can only work on Cadavers lol.

MASH is fine for the first seasons w/ Henry and Trapper John and Frank. Got really preachy is dumb later on. Cheers is the better overall series.
