Out of context, it is pretty bad.

I did laugh at the time and not blaming anyone for the joke at the time. Mainly just pointing out that our society has become a bunch of victims looking for their next thing to be offended about.
Fixed.

Well, that wouldn't make sense. But, athletes are notorious for roasting each other - like when Jason Sehorn was in the NFL playing cornerback (the last white guy to start at the position, significantly), his teammates razzed him for both being white and not wanting to huddle with them (the corners were supposed to stay out wide, and I think he was the only white starter on defense for the Giants for significant portions of that time) AND having model good looks.
So, it depends on the circumstances and "context" (again with that word), I suppose.

Don’t know about a “sex crime”, but it probably violated some rule of Military Justice. The scene probably would be criticized today, but the times are totally different. When I was a kid and saw it in a theater, I thought it was great to see a little T and A. ??

I do not like the movie. Too old for me. And too “zany” for my tastes. The scene where they go to Japan to operate on a generals kid or something? They get into a sword fight using a golf club to drive back a female soldier of some sort?
Probably would have gotten him shot or arrested there.
But moviemaking styles and the world was different in 1970-71. Think they were going with a Mean Streets style of filming (which I know was after in 1973) which is the closest example to what I can think of.

It was just a different time and you could take out MASH and fill in the blank with tons of films from that time. Potential sex crimes were committed in the name of humor in Revenge of the Nerds. Porkys, My Tutor, Animal House, Caddyshack...hell even 16 Candles. Times change...sometimes for better and sometimes not.

A lot of what Hawkeye and Trapper did in that show would meet the scorn of today's oversensitive military.

I'm familiar with the cat, but I don't endorse white supremacy. Like the whole gender debacle, I sort of fall into the category of - the "races" (collectively) have objectively demonstrated various strengths and weaknesses over the span of history and in modern societies. I merely observe and acknowledge these.
But the world is becoming increasingly mixed race - and that isn't necessarily a bad thing in my view. Further, I don't judge (or value) folks based on immutable characteristics outside that individual's control. I take each individual as I find him or her.

quote:That's pretty much Sailer's take as well. He's about as far from a white supremacist as a white guy can be.
