Stumbled across this movie last night. Saw it was set in 1957 Louisiana so I decided to watch.

Sam Waterston
Jason London
a VERY young Reese Witherspoon

I've never heard of this movie.. Where did you come across it?

Also, my oldest daughter is close to the age Reese is in this movie and it's alarming how much they resemble each other.. I know no one actually cares, but it just struck me as odd.

Came to talk about the Andy Kaufman movie. I am disappoint.

On the other hand, I was watching Jim Carrey's Man on the Moon a few months ago when my wife walked in to ask what was on. I told her and she was briefly excited b/c she thought I meant the Reese Witherspoon movie.

Funny how a single letter can dash your hopes like that.

That movie was filmed just outside of Natchitoches, and the underaged Reese showed off her nekkid butt briefly in one scene. I covered my eyes immediately.

This was a movie most of us late 30's yo women watched growing up. Great story, the ending sucked/was perfect. Sam Waterson was a great Southern father.

He is great in it, but his little bit of tough love was hard for me to watch.

The casting is really good, and the movie is very realistic for the rural South. While in high school in the 70's, I pumped gas at a station on my town's court house square. Had a few girls that came by for les than a dollar's worth of gas on a regular basis. Yes, I lived The Eagles 'Take it Easy", and so does Jason London in this movie.

I had sisters and they were always renting this movie; this and Stealing Home.
