I'm part of the way into Season 2 and have really enjoyed it.
And I hate Betty Draper with an intensity that's equivalent to the fire of a thousand suns.

It will only get worse as you get deeper into the series.dude. She reminds me of a grown child with some of her characteristics

If you hate her now...just wait. She defines the word C U N T in 3 and 4.

Re-watching from the beginning. Haven't seen the first season in 4 years. Ep1 is great so far:
The opening scene where he's talking to the black guy about changing smoke brands was great.
"Now try not to be intimidated by all this technology, it looks complicated but the men who designed it made it simple enough for a woman to use."
And
Roger Sterling: "Have we hired any Jews?"
DD: "Not on my watch."
And I'm only 15 minutes in.

Hah. That's what I've heard.
I think it's worse as a woman watching her.

She truly is evil.

I'm actually very attracted to Betty Draper, despite her flaws. It's not that I just think she looks pretty, I like her character and personality on the show (except when she does stuff like slap sally). I can't explain it, I think I'm attracted to dysfunctional women; my g/f is also kind of a headcase.

prayer sent.
Women like Betty Francis are extremely annoying and seem like the type who might kill you in your sleep. I'll admit at the beginning of season 1 I liked betty, but that quickly changed after mid first season.

Yeah, I think I might have just fallen in love with her right off that bat, and refused to ever see her as anything other than the beautiful housewife, even though the show gave us reason after reason to not like the woman.

she wouldn't be nearly as big of a bitch if her husband wasn't a closed-off, lying enigma of a man.

I love this show, can't wait for next season
Oh, one spoiler....
I really thought Betty's new husband was going to turn out to be a total a-hole. I feel so bad for the guy. That marrage isn't going to last.

meh...Drapers my hero, If I had to come home to betty and her barbie doll attitude every evening...I'd probably find me a skank in Manhattan too.
Just finished watching "Hobo Code" one of my all time favorite episodes. I love the flash back to Draper or "Dick Whitmens" passed. Also, the interaction between Don & Bobby is so raw and realistic.

If you rewatch season 5 when Don drops off Betty & Bobby at his house and gets into an argument with Don about Sally cutting her hair. She makes the comment to Mr.Francis "you're easy" after he calms her down....pretty much declaring the Mr.Francis is a pushover.
I found that seen very telling about the future of their relationship.

SPOILER
For sure, I thought that when they first got together (season finale when they were off to Vegas to get married) that something would come up with the guy. Looks now like he's the only saving grace for the three kids. Betty is unloving, Don is a drunk and woman chaser...stepdad is an actully okay guy. Loon mom, but stepdad is cool.

well Betty lost her mom at a pretty young age. and she herself was young when she had her first child. being plucked off the streets of Manhattan and going from single model to housewife is a huge transition. Don should have known when he picked out his perfect image of a suburban wife that she would need more attention and affection than he gives her.
product of the times though. or so the show would have us believe.
