I was on board with this episode until the Whidmore scenes. Really? This guy sends a freighter with hardcore mercenaries to the island two seasons ago and now he shows up with a group of people that look like he picked them up at Quizzo night in some dive bar. Doesn't make sense at all.

Widmore's freighter only had one team of merc's on it.....Keamy, his right hand guy, and a couple of others. It wasn't like the ship was overflowing with badasses. There were also scientists and the ship's crew. Just cause Widmore didn't bring a bunch of roided up affliction wearing dudes to the Island this time doesn't mean his people can't handle themselves.

2 things I noticed that seemed the cameras focused on.
1: Claire reaching out to hold kate's hand... since she is a candidate, can kate convert claire's sanity back? Was here hugging and crying to Kate part of her transformation or a ploy?
2: when smokey and Kate were talking... he held his hand out to help kate up and she refused to touch his hand. Smokey knows she is not with him, so he is trying to do to her what he did to sayid.

Two things:
1. Don't try to tell jokes anymore. You're just not cut out for it.
2. They were dressed in civilian clothes because they were on the Ajira flight.

I think you're reading too much into both of those situations. Claire was probably just acting nice, trying to get Kates defenses down so she could jump her later. MIB was just trying to help her up and Kate wasn't interested.

I didn't remember that many people being on the plane and left behind when Ilana and her folks paddled over to the main island. I thought Hurley bought up all the seats on the plane. Where did these people come from? Why were they killed? Who killed them? The actress that played Zoey is someone I have always thought was cute and they did a good job of allowing her boobs to jiggle last night.

same here, there were obviously a little more than Ilana, Caesar, Bram, and the Oceanic 6, but it was far less than a full cabin

I don't think MIB is evil incarnate. He doesn't think he is evil. He just sees his acts as means to an end. Kill or be killed as he said.

Just checking in guys. How many folks has uncle stu accosted for being dubmasses so far this morning?
I got to tell you I thought last night's episode was just ok. Can't wait to see next week and learn the real secrets of the island. Richard will deliver the goods.

usually, the dumbassery doesnt settle in till mid-afternoon on Wednesday when the 'tards have had ample time to soak in the previous night's episode. I'm sure someone will find a way to incorporate analogous inferences to Mother Goose soon enough
