Speaking of before they were LOST, Josh Holloway was a token vampire on the pilot of Angel.

He got staked in the first scene.

the water killed Sun....and Jin

and technically, it's Sawyer's fault, not MIB's so, we're back to square one

the only person that died directly by C-4 was Sayid. At least he was able to go out in typical Arab fashion by blowing up with a bomb strapped to his chest.

I don't know about the theory that those touched by Jake can't commit suicide. What Jin did was pretty damn close to suicide IMHO.

I think the bigger issue with why Michael couldn't kill himself and Jack's dynamite didn't blow up was the fact that the island wasn't finished with them.

Apparently, the island was finished with Sayid, the Kwons, and perhaps "Best in Texas".

Eh, it's iffy. He was trying to save Sun, not trying to kill himself.

wouldn't which would be suicide, but he was no longer a candidate (yet still touched by Jacob) so its ok... I think

He was going to die either way. It wasn't an act of suicide.

At the end, he made the decision to die with her. There was no longer an attempt to save her. Granted, maybe he couldn't make it out anyway, but he didn't even try. If that's not suicide, it's riding a really thin line.

As I said, I don't think there was an issue with Jack or Michael killing themselves. There was an issue with them dying by any means because the island wasn't finished with them.

I see it differently

1.MIB is trapped on the island
2.Jacob has some capacity to keep him bound
3.Jacob at some point will require a replacement(I assume that Jacob knows he has to die in the process)
4. Jacob continually brings prospective candidates to the island
5. MIB keeps "winning" in the sense that he gets the candidates to die off
6. It doesnt really matter, b/c to date, Jacob has always been there to keep him trapped
7. The main rule is that MIb can't kill Jacob nor any of the candidates directly
8. As long as either are still on the island (Jacob &/or candidates) MIB is stuck
9. The "loophole" is that he needs them to all kill each other off & Jacob in the process - but not directly by MIB's hand

I agree. This is why Lock is hanging on to Claire. He needs at least one non-candidate on his said as a backup weapon.

I think it is going to come down to Jack, Kate, MIB and Claire. Claire is going to kill Kate and Jack will have to decide to kill Claire out of vengeance or not. If he does then Locke proves his point that man is corruptible and Jack will no longer be a candidate. If Jack does not kill Claire then Locke is going to try to make Claire kill Jack. Locke will then kill Claire and leave the island.

Otherwise, Claire kills herself and Locke is stuck on the island with Jack as the new Jacob.

Right. It was a heroic act. But at least he was able to go out in typical Arab fashion by blowing up with a bomb strapped to his chest.

Negative ghost rider. There were no more oxygen tanks to get to the surface. Jin sacrificed himself so that Jack and Sawyer could get out.

I said in my post that maybe he couldn't have made it out anyway, so what's your point? He still made no attempt to save himself despite the fact his wife was begging him to leave her.

That really wasn't the point of my post anyway, so I'm finished arguing symantics with you.

This actually brings up another point. The sub was obviously designed for more than 2 people. I bet if they looked around a little, they could have found more of these. Probably a little box with 2 or so in each room.
