Also, the biblical theme of Adam and Eve is clearly visible with regards to Rose and Bernard.

Living in paradise, happy/content, not getting involved in all the destruction, etc.

The folks on Lostpedia are fighting over the translation. It is either "He who saved us all" or "He who protects us all".

what is final season going to be about? do you think they will land in LA. If so, will they have any recollection of the island or will they go on with their lives never knowing each other. If that's the case, I think Jack is gonna bang Ana Lucia when they get back to L.A.

I think Juliet set off the bomb and it prevented a world disaster but which will require the failsafe device/computer in which Desmond and others did/will repeatedly enter the proper sequence to keep the power contained. In other words I believe history will repeat itself :) The only way for them to prevent the need for the failsafe device is to prevent the drilling into the energy core/pocket in the first place.

It's not past-tense. It is "He who will save us all". Or, substitute "shall" for "will". Same thing.

backgammon anyone? anyone?

Remember how we've always heard that the writers put something into the pilot to prove, at least partially, where they were going all along?

The backgammon game between Locke and Walt was exactly that. The "game is 5000 years old" line, the "dark vs. light" / good vs. evil description. The fact that its JOHN LOCKE giving this description. Its all there.

Just awesome.

Very interesting dialogue here. Fantastic episode. Only problem is now we have even more questions.

My biggest question is whom was Jacob referring to when he said "They are coming" as he was about to die?

And no way they go through the last season without Sawyer, Jack, etc., right?

Also is it safe to assume that the guy in black at the beginning was somehow banished from the island and needed Locke to get back?

My first guess would be the original Losties, since immediately upon Jacob saying this (and NotLocke glaring at him), they switched right to Jack/Kate/Sawyer/et. al.

Is it safe to assume that he's been there all along, taking such forms as the smoke monster, Christian, Ben's mother?

I think that the struggle is over the island (or something about the island) and Jacob & NonLocke have been there the whole time.

The Losties, or a group of people similar.

The 'game' is restarting (via the nuke).

You could say that Juliet igniting the nuke is Jacob's loophole to counter homeboy's loophole.

So.... :trying to pick up the pieces of my brain off the floor: ....is there no way that the "black" guy in the opening scene was Locke? I've rewatched it 5 times to see if there was any similarities. I know it's a bit of a stretch, but they both had the same freaky eyes. Locke has been preaching this since the first episode. If not, at what point did the devil reincarnate himself into Locke? Does this mean Smokey is bad too if Ben's daughter told him to do everything Locke said? My mind just exploded again.

Sooo, the "good" people got there too late? It's so sad, I was starting to like Jacob. I just think back to all the discussions we've had about who Jacob was and all I can do is

I was going to beat you down if that was a spoiler. The times my DVR crapped out I've watched it on abc.com the next day.

John Locke, the actual person (not the vessel for The Black Team), had a really, really, REALLY pathetic end to his life, didn't he.

Its kind of heartbreaking.
