Good call.... Like the opening scene
"Why do you keep bringing them here if they keep failing"
Jacob: "You call it failure, I call it progress"
Agree. It's as if the island is an iterative training ground for improving lives. Reminds me of Groundhog Day only the iterations are not just a single day replaying itself but rather occurs over a longer period of time. Yes, Ben failed again but apparently grew some along the way. Ben's outpouring to Jacob reminded me a lot of Field of Dreams when Ray (Kevin Costner) asked what's in it for me? And Shoeless Joe answered: is that why you did this, for you?
As children we are completely self-centered and dependent on our parents but as we mature into adults eventually many become parents and learn selflessness. So too have our Losties grown learning that true love is about making the ultimate sacrifice for those you love. Maybe Ben will get it right next time :)

That new show looked pretty interesting. The one with the What did you see commercial.
I am pretty pumped for V though.
Also, was the guy playing Jacob in the Big Lebowski?

Cosmic battle. My roommate made a good point. There was definitely a "Job" storyline in this episode. Ben represented Job. Jacob, God. Other Guy, Satan.
Said it from the opening scene....
And the "Loophole" is what will get "satan" back into heaven

What scene? I can't remember.
His name is Mark Pelligrino and he played on "Dexter" as Rita's ex-husband who Dexter eventually offs.

It's 1-0 Black. Whites move.

An easy assumption to make, but then "LOST" doesn't usually allow for that holding any water.
Notice that, outside of the island, Jacob is wearing black in every scene he appears in. Also notice that, for the most part, he subtly encourages the destructive behavior that the Losties arrived on the island with.
There might be a "Jesus/Satan/Job" allegory to be found, but perhaps that's just what the producers would like you to think.

Definitely God vs. Satan. And to answer the question about "why didn't Jacob save himself when he knew this would happen"...well that's straight out of the New Testament

That was the most incredible two hours of television I've ever seen.
I think Abrams could let Tyler Perry direct the final season and LOST would still go down as the greatest television show of all time.

I think this is wrong. That's just me, though.

it's gonna be a long wait
what is final season going to be about? do you think they will land in LA. If so, will they have any recollection of the island or will they go on with their lives never knowing each other. If that's the case, I think Jack is gonna bang Ana Lucia when they get back to L.A.

They may not actually be God and Satan, but I definitely think that's what they represent.

Remember in the second season when everyone though it was all about purgatory? I think I'm going to stop guessing and just buckle up and enjoy the ride.
Who am I kidding? I'll think about this episode for a month.

I know. I'm the same way. I consider it seriously for a bit, then just let it go 'cause it hurts my brain.

Jacob knew all this was going to happen. He set it up for the Oceanic people to be their to reset the "game" so he wouldn't be dead.

And by reset button, I mean the WHOLE damn thing resets....except the Losties are a little wiser this time around when they go through everything.

So, is the island the "boundary line" between heaven and hell? Sort of a neutral ground.
