Lets face facts, Ben is going to die by the end of the series, and I am so glad that he finally really had redemption before it is too late. I think Ben may suffer a very heroic death and may be the downfall to MIB.
Or...in the end, everyone has a choice to "return" to the mirror world ala Alice and Wonderland, and Ben chooses to stay. Jacob then rewards him with a candidacy, he accepts and becomes the new Jacob.

One of the best delivered lines of the whole series.
Agree. Honestly, that scene gave me chill bumps and moved me to tears. Michael Emerson is a very good actor and the entire cast has grown together which to me has been a big part of the story which has been LOST.

I'm really dumbfounded as to where Widmore is gonna fit in. I don't think he's aligned with MiB, ........ maybe Widmore is just there to take back control of the Island from whoever.
Has it ever been explained how Widmore came to know of the island?

I'm pretty sure they will allude to that. If not, enough has been shown already. He was stationed there with the military in the 50's.

That theoretically may not have been his first time there, though.
Part of me has always thought he may have been the Captain of the Black Rock.

Right on. This would be the best possible ending I could imagine. Although Locke had faith in the island and could communicate with Jacob (or was that MIB? LOL) in reality no one has been more dedicated to the island than Ben.

I suppose the island would keep drawing in new people for him to "be principal" for...

I don't think we know how he first came to the Island. We know he was there as far back as the 1950's from Jughead....and we know he was essentially forced to leave by Ben sometime after the Purge (mid-90's?).
My take on Widmore has always been that he isn't necessarily an evil person, he just fricking hates Ben. Widmore was one of the leaders of the others for 15-20 years or so, so it seems that he would have some allegiance to Jacob. Unless he holds a grudge against Jacob for getting the boot from the Island. But even if that is the case....if Widmore knew how dangerous the MiB is then he wouldn't want any part of helping him.

Honestly, I can't see Jacob giving the gift of agelessness to Widmore. I think it's pretty straightforward that Widmore came to the island while he was in the army. The big unanswered question of course is why did they leave an H-bomb/Jughead on the island? We still haven't seen the back story to that unless I missed it.

Charles Widmore = Magnus Hanso
BOOM

There are other forces at work besides Jacob.
Is Magnus Hanso an anagram for anything?

Oh and I love how they made the filler episode involving the diamonds meaningful.
The diamonds being there allowed Miles not to give in to Ben thereby aiding in a chain of events that led to Ben's redemption on the island.

Mib is like Satan. He offers a nice prize if you follow him but you are his slave. What he offers is not what it seems
Sayid is still a killer
Kate is still running from cops
not real sure about Sawyer yet
Jacob is like god.
The journey with him may be difficult and not always good but the destination is worlds better than mib's
Ben has redeemed himself
Jack is a good father
hurley has good luck
Locke who ha believed the entre time has a wife and a pretty good life (he didn't choose darkness he is just a shell mib is using to hide his true identity)
I like this. Following this theory, I believe Sun is the correct Kwon. At the airport, she claimed she could not speak english. If memory serves me correctly she learned english because she was having an affair and was running away to America. I bet we will see that she never has the affair and remained faithful to Jin.
I really liked tonights episode.

Ben was and no longer is a candidate, so I don't think so. Then again Jacob did touch Ben, and I rewatched it and it zooms in on Jacob grasping Ben. Although I do wish that Ben would become the next Jacob, since everything that he has gone through has made him much wiser and I think that Ben has now learned fully from his mistakes, since even when he was being judged by the Monster, I think he still held Jacob mostly responsible for his daughter's death, even though he did know he had a major part in it.

I hope you die in your sleep. Hot Carl tells me he's planning this BTW. Just a heads up.
So she didn't kill her step-dad? Or is she innocent of something else? I missed any allusion to this.
Also, what did Richard say to confirm he came over on the Black Rock?
