Remember all those years we spent freaking out over how male-dominated the critics groups were? I used to count them and measure them and beg for them to invite more women. But who needs that when you can have gender-neutral film awards? Why even count?

So are we replacing best actor/actress? Because that actually makes a lot of sense . We don’t differ in gender for director, writer, or cinematographer

Having two awards is a cop-out.
Having categories like "Best Lead Performance", which are gender-neutral, is fine. Plenty of smaller critics circles do this already.
