The vanity fair interview was great
Dave goes in at 6 am because he hates traffic
He has a bedroom next to his office where he goes back to sleep until 10
Then he gets up, does the show prep and hangs out with the producers until 4
Before his heart attack he smoked cigars all day long and ate one meal, chicken Alfredo, every single day

He really is a strange guy by all accounts
I loved sterns recap of his last visit, the show ended and they told Howard and Rickles to wait, there was one more thing.....a few minutes later they told them they could leave and the realized that letterman had already left the building. It was a ruse for Dave to avoid saying goodbye to the guests LOL

Supposedly he doesn't meet with the guests before the show either. He doesn't even talk to the writers in person.
