Let's Talk About Your Favorite Character Actors

I don't think this is a subject that's been discussed. Character actors are chameleons. They can play just about any role. Every once in a while they may get a lead role but good character actors really can be the "secret ingredient" to making a movie or TV show work..
I started looking at some of the list like on the IMDB and quickly found out there are so many really good character actors/actresses that I can't make a "top list" so I'll just get a list of favorites..
I'm going to throw a few names out there I like and see how this thread plays out.
Sean Bean
Strother Martin
Kevin Bacon (yes he leads a lot too but is in everything)
Paul Sorvino
I could rattle off many more..

I don't think your definition is correct. I always thought of a CA as someone who plays the same type role in several movies.

Seems like you're thinking more of "hey it is that supporting role guy" actors.

I think it's rather open to interpretation..Everyone on my list does fit your narrative at some point in their careers..

It's not that narrow a category. Brian Dennehy considers himself a character actor, even though he's won Tony's and a Golden Globe as a lead actor.

easily my favorite. Dude is so awesome in any role he plays.
And although not a character actor, per se, Tom Hardy absolutely destroys and steals every single scene and movie he is in. Especially as the gangster in Peaky Blinders.
