Curahee is my #1... "Is there a problem Mr. Sobel?" "You cut that goddamn fence down and get this platoon on the move!"

I think they got 95% correct. Ambrose is notorious amongst true historians for taking literary liberty when certain aspects of his books. This particular book is primarily based upon 1st hand accounts. I think the guys just didn’t know what happened to Blithe. Fog of war sets in and possibly confused him with someone else. Ambrose and HBO should have confirmed before they portrayed in in that manner.

Blithe is last and a misfire. Someone didn’t properly research Albert Blithe. He was portrayed as a incompetent coward who was killed due to his own actions. In reality , he was wounded , survived , returned to airborne during the Korean War. He won a silver star, three bronze starts and 2 Purple Hearts. He was a career military man who served in West Germany until the late 1960’s. The script at the end of the episode incorrectly states that he died in 1948 after not fully recovering from his wounds.
It blows my mind that they still haven't gone back to correct this. Not to edit the episode, but at least to correct what happened to him after the events of the episode.

Yeah that action is what got Winters out of the field. The guy was wise beyond his years and a blessing to all who served under him.
