"Edward and Aethelflaed did Uthred dirty!"

They sure did. As did Alfred before them!!!

Must run in the family .

Anyone else think Brida is incredibly one-dimensional now? I think it would’ve been better if she would’ve died this season.

She’s by far the worst of the main cast at this point. Took the title away from Aelswith pretty quick.

Yes, the remaining chaste stipulation made zero sense. Why not just say “I cannot marry while I rule?” Uthred wouldn’t have cared about not being able to marry her. Chastity though is another problem .

Great season

Also Alfreds widow and their daughter are the same age in real life

If she puts out a male then he would have claim to Mercia not her and not the wittans potential sons via marrying her daughter. They are fine with aethelfled has a placeholder to keep peace in the time being

Yeah, I'm ready for her to go. Her hate for Uhtred doesn't even make sense. If she really wanted to die so badly she could've just charged one of the guards surrounding her with a sword and fought to the death

TLK is what GOT should have been. (spoilers here)

Alfred dead
Beocca dead
Steappa dead
Aethalred dead
Uhtred Wife dead
bunch of other main's dead

then at the end of season 4:
Uhtred son in a church
Uhtred daughter with heathens, but choosing to be.
Uhtred stuck with bastard son.
Uhtred slam piece chaste.
Aelswith poisoned.

Uhtred more or less loss everything, but it's not a sad feeling. just a feeling of wanting more.

this is how GOT should have felt. complete but with slight feels.

And covers a much longer timespan. Of course you're going to have a lot of deaths over the course of 30+ years.

I think he’s just saying that there’s life/death consequences for the actions of the characters because they do try to stay historically accurate.

Game of Throne drew a lot of its stuff from history too, but the problem down the stretch was the lack of consequences for characters. The consequences of their actions, good or bad, no longer determined the story. Instead, the characters were protected from the consequences of their actions because D&D predetermined the result.

Took a break from the show for a while and just finished season 4. They didn’t have a clue with what to do with Brida’s character. i kept laughing at the battle scenes where a pregnant woman is kicking asses of much bigger men. Stickfigure was a lightweight bad guy and this season finale was anti-climactic. i think i’ll finish the audiobooks to see where this heads. i was lured by Jonathan Keeble and his voice for Uhtred, somewhere along the line, that changed the voice actor to someone that sounded like TimConway in that Carol Burnett skit (ms zoowiggins). That change totally killed my enthusiasm for listening.

The story has taken some big deviations from the books at this point.
