Hartman was a big key in all those skits.
He would be the glue that would keep all the other ones in line.

Kenan Thompson sort of fills that role now, but not in the exact same way. I think Hartman could make his costars shine a bit more, while Kenan is there to make sure there's someone funny there when his costars fall short.

Terrible senseless ending.

The SNL he hosted when he sings on the stage with Farley on his shoulder

I didn't know he had track record for being so distant in his relationships once the chase was over.

Apparently reintroduced cocaine to Phil's wife.

Andy Dick is a waste of oxygen, but I don't think that it's necessarily fair to pin this slide on him. It happened 6 months later, and if she was looking to score coke, she would've found a way to unearth some. It's LA and she's married to a giant star, FFS.

Fun Fact. If you grew up in the 70's Phil Hartman did the
Cover art for America's Greatest Hits Album, and Poco Legend.
Also Steely Dan Aja

Lanley: How much did you see?!

Marge: Nothing incriminating...

Lanley: Good!

Amazing with Groundlings colleague Paul Rubens in the early incarnation of Pee Wee Herman show, first broadcast on HBO. Hartman played “Captain Carl,” and his presence and talent stood out even in the infancy of his career.

Brilliant,

I missed last night's broadcast and didn't know about it until the last minute so I couldn't set my DVR. I love how ABC aired it once and apparently nothing for the next two weeks.

Where can I catch this online?

ABC phone apps.
ABC Roku, Fire, etc. apps.
abc.go.com
It’s the first option on every ABC Prime platform.
They could make it easier, but that would involve a brain implant.

had just turned 11 when Phil Hartman died but remember being crushed by the news. I had been a fan of SNL as my parents watched it every Saturday night in those days and had also loved him in Jingle All the Way. It was bittersweet watching Small Soldiers in theaters that summer.

I was around the same age and felt the exact same way watching small solidiers

Andy got Phil's wife into cocaine, or back into cocaine.. Idr which..

It was months before the murder, but that definitely couldn't have helped.

Some say he also wasn't very respectful after Phil's death, but IDK.

I need to see this.

I checked that site yesterday and it wasn’t there.

Those were SNL's best years. Hartman, Sandler, MacDonald, Carvey, Myers, Farley, Spade, Miller...just a murderer's row of amazing talent.

I was reading up on how their kids turned out and I saw they inherited an estate worth 1.23 million.

That’s not a lot considering how famous and successful Hartman was.

I imagine his Simpsons residuals would still be going on for the kids.
