I'm nothing even close to being any kind of film critic and I also thought it was absurd.
Do you ever watch the pitch meeting YouTube videos? Landman is begging to get roasted on there.
Producer: "Oh wow, so he's tied up and tortured by a cartel in a secret location and not even his wife or right-hand man knows where he is, how's he going to get out of this situation?"
Writer: "Oh, super easy, barely an inconvenience. Another cartel guy and his crew are going to bust up the place and rescue him."
Producer: "And take him straight to the hospital because of his hand that was crushed with a hammer?"
Writer: "No, his hand is fine, he uses it 30 seconds later to dig his phone out of his pocket and call his friend to come pick him up"
Producer: "But his hand is shattered, the bones"
Writer: "But he's the protagonist so he is healed instantly"
Producer: "Quickly healed protagonists are tight".
