"I never said he was guilty. I never said he was even involved."
Yea - they've just spent almost three entire episodes building up to this and making strong implications.

Why did they give up on Robert just because he was dead?

They took DNA samples from his siblings, and apparently he was excluded.

Ex Husband looks very guilty, and they can't exclude his DNA... I think he most likely did it.

I still want to know what the ex husband was making copies of in the computer store. That holds the key to everything.

He also just could have been having sex with her regularly while apparently being married again. So...could just be trying to cover his arse on two fronts, staying out of trouble with the wife and trying to avoid being a murder suspect.

Ehh why hire such expensive lawyers if you are innocent?
Said he spent 15,000 on lawyers before he was even questioned.

Aren't marriage records public? Should be easy for some td sleuth to find the name and pertinents on this guy

Innocent people can hire lawyers. Always safe to have a lawyer present when chatting with the cops. He's the ex-husband and they always make good suspects (yet oddly, quickly cleared back in '97). Let's say he was sleeping with her again yet did not kill her...why get behind the 8 ball with the cops without representation? It's obvious they want to go after the guy.
I'm not saying that he doesn't make a good suspect, just meaning his actions are smart even for an innocent man.

So if an ex gf of yours got murdered and the police wanted to talk to you, and you being innocent, would you refuse to talk to therm and spend 15,000 on lawyers?
I wouldn't.
I wouldn't.

If you were in this situation and had been having sex with her around the time she disappeared, you would be stupid to not get a lawyer. I would most definitely get representation. Regardless, better safe than sorry. Now, I'm not sure I would straight up refuse like this guy did. But maybe that was played up for television.

Agreed. He was likely banging her and he figures $15k is cheaper than 50% of everything if his current finds out he was sleeping with his ex and her at the same time.

You can't take these things lightly. It sucks you have to spend a lot of $ if you're innocent but anyone in jail that is innocent would pay any amount to get out.

I hope nobody I love is ever found murdered in Iberville Parish.

15K for a retainer on a murder charge is the low end.
Just showing up to be televised being questioned and have your name dragged thru the mud is reason enough to retain counsel to stay off tv. But the dude sure looks guilty.

From my very limited knowledge of attorneys, that's pretty much SOP. Don't give the police anything at all, especially if there's no pending charges and the client is not under arrest.

I didn't get to watch last nights episode yet, but the case has made it back on the local news. Anyone see that coverage? They say the show didn't over dramatize anything. They are just showing how they have really worked the case

I can't believe the local news isn't slamming Iberville cops for the abysmal initial.investigation 20 years ago. 1 phone call with ex husband and he's cleared? Lulz.
